A2 Crown Edition

I have been offered A2 Crown which I am told only 300 were available at the launch of the A2 in 1998
It was a special edition for Crown garages in London and only available in 1 colour
Has anyone heard of this , and got any more information / pics

It’s certainly not something I’ve ever heard of, read about or seen before, and I’ve seen a lot of A2s.
It doesn’t seem like a very ‘Audi’ thing to do. However, I’m happy to be proven wrong.

I've not heard of an A2 Crown edition in 5 years of immersion in the A2 world. With 300 supposedly having been sold, you'd think at least a few would have got into the hands of Club members by now and appeared on this forum.

Searching for Crown on here however, the following thread comes up, which is one of only a few results not mentioning more common terms like crownwheels, piston crown, crown of the road (or crown jewels seems to be quite popular too!)

It does mention the leather seats being embossed with the logo of Crown Garages who ran a competition for which it was a prize. In 2021 the owning member ended up retaining it after putting it up for sale. Might it be that car, or another one from the same competition?

As Steve says above, more information would be welcomed, especially photos if you can get them.

Audi made many limited edition models in the late 90's early 2000's to celebrate their motor sport success in dtm and le mans. The audi A4/A3 Turbo quattro sport model being the most recognisable one from that period. With a hark back to the classy interior material used in the Audi 80 coupes from the early-mid 90's (similar type cloth material design used in A2 sport model) and 7x17" ronal boleros as standard.
The 1.8 Turbo quattro sport being 180bhp as opposed to the 150bhp 1.8T at the time.
