A2 insurance

I’m having difficulty getting a reasonable quote from my Audi A2 that’s over 20 years old.

I’m based in London 62 years old and have no claims or convictions and no claims bonus of nine years. I’m being quoted £1100 comprehensive insurance for a 20-year-old A2. This is with Aviva who are normally expensive anyway.
Is there a specialist Audi A2 insurer or any schemes that I can get on through this club? It also occurred to me that because the A2 is aluminium there may be an extra loading on it?

I live in central London, 61, and pay less than half that for a 1.4 petrol, 20 years old and covered for business use. I’m with Direct Line

£185 (A2 Sport FSI) with LV. South of England. Kept on the drive.
TT is £202, also LV .

Hi Trevor, do you have any details? Or just go to IAM website?

thanks
My understanding is that this is effectively a discount for IAM members on insurance through cornmarket. Amusingly despite having passed (IAM) advanced driving a few years ago and being a local observer (and hence being required to keep my standards up) they consistently quote me utter nonsense >£1000 because they don't seem to have much data for younger drivers (I am 26 and have a clean insurance record).

Like Dave I would give Saga a try, they were our first insurers after acquiring the A2 and with similar age and history they were well below £200 although we don't live in London.

Hi. I pay £119 fully comp via John Lewis Insurance. Age 61, no claims, no points, 12 years NCD, 1.6FSi and living in Edinburgh.

I'm 40, have my wife on the policy, 10 years protected no claims and I pay £189 for a 1.4 petrol.
I always use a comparison site, you will get a load of prices and you can pick what suits you best.

I’m 41, 16 years no claims and use a comparison broker and it’s £269. Glasgow East End (and some little modifications of course…)

If you google “Martin’s money tips” and “car insurance” then the article it brings up will be worth your while to digest.

I've found Admiral really good. I've got both my A2s on a multi car. 1.6 is £155 fully comp protected no claims. The 1.4 is £147 TPFT. Both parked on the street or in a rented garage. I'm 53 with no points and 36 years no claims if that helps. Being in Norwich may be a big influence on mine though.

Firstly I'm not trying to be rude, I have to ask as im a HGV Class 1 driver what has driving a lorry got to do with your car insurance, I only pay £189 for mine so I'm asking as I'm a bit stumped with your statement. Once again not trying to offend just curious.
