A2 probably written off!

With your help and encouragement and with a special thanks to A2Steve for supplying the parts the car is nearly done.
Bumper still to fix and head lights and fog lights to install. Power steering fluid level well below minimum so will top that up before putting in headlight.
It wasnt a difficult job as people rightly said. It was frustrating not knowing ordered that things go back together and having to take things back off when for example the wiring loom wrong side of pipe
I will have to have a closer look at bonnet and opening flap as something is bent and flap rubs when opened and LHS fixing very stiff to engage and lock closed

Wow that was a quick turnaround Peter, you only collected them yesterday.

I should have a service flap for you on the next breaker.

Well done Peter! I’m so glad you decided to fix it. The A2 club is by far the the best car club I’ve come across, and as good as the imp club for sure. There’s always someone who knows what to do and how to do it.
Thanks everyone for helping Peter out, it was me that put the A2 on his map!😀😀

Delighted! You'd never find another historied one with that mileage on this earth.

Keep up the good work, perhaps put it into the likes of WOM up in Stoke for a "fettle" and general check over when you've finished.

B&F in West Hounslow also very good on A2.

Neither on the doorstep, sadly.

I have a minor set back that need your guys help with.

On filling up with anti freeze I have water coming out from the top of the radiator at the LHS. There looks to be a connection for a small pipe or something that I havent got and old radiator went for scrap so cant compare with the original one. Hopefully you can just see it in photo

Also whilst posting a coupe of other minor things to query.
I have this bit of plastic that was attached to bottom of bumper if I remember correctly.
What does it do as has this funny point thing on it? Its all broken so was just going to leave it off

And finally I have what I assume is the external temperature sender that must push in somewhere on the grill but cant see where or how

Simon, I actually bought it off them after Steve put me on to them. They had too many others to work on so were moving it on un touched so to speak. It passed its first MOT with me with no advisories and told it all looks good . Also I quite enjoy working on cars myself, well most of the time, and with help of this forum will attend to any issues as I go along

Good Afternoon,

This well known picture courtesy of Skipton01 will help.

Update: New radiator delivered and spent afternoon getting car back together. Once Radiator fitted I filled it up to check for leaks before doing anything else!
I only had to 4.00 PM but all back together bar fixing the wheel arch liners, putting the wheels back on and then a final check over before dropping back down onto its wheels.
Happy days

Excellent! Well done!

Not washed but back on the road!

I need to look at nearside head light and wing as not siting quite right. Inspection flap thingy also seems bent and the bonnet also not siting quite right. I will have to have a closer look at it some other time but at least its driveable and my wife didnt notice!.
Once I get it all looking right I'll take it to a body shop for some TLC!

It was all done just in time as I have accepted an offer from the insurance company in "settlement" . I just had to send 4 external pictures but l also said about low mileage, service history etc and referenced a couple of Autotrader adverts. In fairness to Ageas, the other parties insurance company, they were very good and even said we could keep the hire car for another 7 days if we wanted to.

I think you've done a terrific job, well done. I think that you would be better off going to an A2 specialist for gentle fettling, rather than a body shop. They do tend to charge like a wounded rhino and tend not to be at all aware of matters A2.

Just my opinion.

WOM Stoke on Trent
B&H West Hounslow

Both do loan cars if asked nicely.
