A2OC Donor
The A2 was expensive as it used aluminium in many different forms: castings, extrusions and sheet and these had to be assembled and welded by robots. The A2 was an experiment to see how the aluminium A8 construction could be simplified to make a lower cost mass produced vehicle. For example spot-welding, clinching and structural bonding used on the A8 were completely eliminated on the A2 and replaced by a world first laser welding. If this would actually happen can you imagine what the price could be. Especially when you consider how expensive the original was. I think I will wait till they are old.

It's not surprising the A2 lost money if these experimental / development costs (including the robotic assembly line) were all heaped on the A2 rather that spread over a number of models.
Any relaunch would be steel and use the common MEB platform.
