Split the key in two as though replacing its battery, you will now be able to read the part number, might need a magnifying glass! Note the part number of the CCCU and date of manufacture might be useful.

Post both here but crucially include any trailing letters.

No gaurentee of your answer but it has to help.

Andy

Edit. Welcome by the way.

Thanks again for your help .

You only really need the lower button part as you keep the upper part with the key blade and immo chip. You will however have to get the remote matched to the CCCU. Either a job for VCDS or a car locksmith.

You could also go up to a later generation of Audi key, either way make sure you have 2 keys for the car.

Have a read of this thread for more information either way....

@777spectre,

Thank you for the wondrously clear pictures. Yes agreed you need a key with part number ending in D, but sense of course to buy two.

If you look at the Free Scan Register you will see a member only 30 minutes away who can pair the new key(s) to the CCCU with VCDS. I have no idea how covid restrictions might apply.

Update i got a new key fob ending in "D"and blade from ebay ,and got a local guy to program it to my car and now its all working great ,thanks for all your help much appreciated ?.

Glad that you got it sorted out. Although I would recommend that you either get a second remote key or a plastic valet key incase you end up accidentally locking your key in the car. IT HAS HAPPENED.
