A2 satnav help

The information you need is likely in the manual. This is from @spike regarding a Symphony unit, your rns may be the same though I don't have a manual...
"I had a Symphony1 in my 2001 TDi and it needed the code after battery disconnection.
TP and RDS were used on my radio but later ones used RDS and SCAN to get '1000' to appear."
No special keying is required to enable the code entry on an RNS D. You just enter the code using the lower right knob. In the IPs case it sounds like an invalid code was entered and the unit is locked.

Many manuals don’t tell you how to enter the code (I think they expect you to take it to them)

Yes

for around £5 you can recover the code on eBay. You just need the serial number on the side/top of the unit.
you get the right code VERY quickly too. Often within the hour.

I will try and get a link. But there are many sellers.

Look at this on eBay

Don’t worry about it not showing the RNS D

Hi Steve thanks for going out of your way for me great advice I will let you know when I get it going
Hi i love a2,
Just a thought is this wired into the car with the correct lead & plug or are you trying to bench test it?
Keith.

Hi it rebooted and I put code in nicht something in german I think it’s the Wrong code
Does the right hand rotary knob click when you press it, if not the brass spring inside is broken & will need replacement, this is what was wrong with my unit , sent it away & got a new one fitted
hth

I can get code from the internet the satnav I got on here last year no longer a member on here dut I do think it will go I can put code in no problem

I believe it needs 2 separate 12v supply’s
You're quite close: it's not a second supply, but there is a SAFE-pin next to +12V and it needs to be on +12V as well. In fact, that is what the red text low on the screen says if you try to enter the code without connecting the SAFE to +12V.

And surely, the unit can be used / tested on the bench.
