This switch can be just pulled out, you can also lift away the panel trim a little just to get your fingers behind the switch and push it out. It's easily removed.

Hello Sarge,
Can you help me please? I am trying to remove my heater blower motor and have the glove box off and the five blower screws out but it is reluctant to come apart at the top near the airbag. I read on another thread that there can be six screws in the blower housing, is that right?
If so, does the airbag need to come off to access the final screw? I have not disconnected the battery yet but I think that might be prudent if I am fiddling around near the airbag!
Thanks, Mike

If any help for now till Sarge replies, there is the awkward bolt which is accessed through a purpose made hole in the alloy bulkhead section. A swear box may be handy but perfectly doable with a multi angle socket head and extension bar,
Cheers Jeff

Thanks Jeffers66,
Is this the mystery sixth bolt or do you think there are only five?
If there are only five, I have them all out, is there a technique to removing the blower housing?

Thanks, Mike

I can't remember how many is there to be fair as it was a while ago, someone may have a diagram or a blower laying about, but, you'll know if you've removed that awkward one as the only way I could access to it was to build the socket extension and angle adaptor to get though the bulkhead, it won't allow you to build your socket setup first as the dash is in the way, hope this makes sense, as far as I remember a bit of movement and the blower removes easily once they are all out!

Thanks Jeff,
Got it!
I now have six bolts out. Had to snip the tie wraps holding the cabling secured round the top of the fan and it came away easily.
The impellor is stiff to turn and the stub axle rusty. The motor slides half way out of its casing but is then held back by the wires attached to the connector block. How does the connector block release from it's housing?

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
I put a complete new fan in when mine was kaput, so sorry I can't answer that one, about £95 brand new on fleebay!
It may well have just been worn brushes but as it was out I went the whole hog!
If you do go that route just check the part numbers tally as I think there is a few different ones!
Cheers Jeff

Sorry just got in. I see you're all sorted now :)

I have some fans if you need a used one.

Sarge, thank you again for this brilliant post. I love it. Almost like having a Haynes manual but BETTER - the colour pictures and instructions are actually helpful! (Unlike Haynes ?). Might tempt me to replace serviceables on my own car. ?

Great guide,

Id like to know the procedure for removing a steering rack and refitting it.

Thanks
