a2 sport

hi all
my first visit so help if i mess up
have a2 sport with 17inch wheels suspension is "bracing"
is this due to the ultra low profile tyres or is the suspension modified?
also what is availability of spacesaver wheel?
thanks in advance

What do you mean by bracing.. my A2 has 17's, runs on 40 profile and is about 30mm lower than a standard sport and has no issues other than its a hard ride..?

Hi

I have a Sport model and the 40 profile (sidewall) has very little flex, just look at the side of the tyre compared to standard tyres. Also the suspension is uprated from the factory by GMBH (i think) so both contribute to the harsh ride.

Mine too is somewhat 'go-kart' like especially over the hundreds of speed bumps around here, serves me right for being a boy racer I guess... :)

wheels and tyres

hi again
bracing means harsh ride go cart suspension and all the other descriptions mentioned
all i wondered whether it was possible to pick up a set of ordinary wheels for local use or just have my teeth superglued in when i use it on the shopping run

If you do some research on the forum and magazine articles, you'll find a few people who purposefully ordered the standard spec. A2's so that they would get higher profile tyres on 15" wheels and a more comfy ride.

There was a magazine article being passed around where someone ordered a TDI90 so equipped.

We think our SE on 16" 50 profile tyres is borderline on the comfort stakes and have been curious as to whether the Sport version is worse. The worst thing we find are the sharp bumps / holes which make the front suspension jar - almost as if the bumpstops are getting a pounding!

My SE has 16's and after 900 miles in 4 days I am glad I didn't buy the Sport which was next to it at the stealership, the ride would probably have been too firm for me. However I find the handling brilliant even with a 40kg bag in the boot, my old Passat S was a boat by comparison!

Personally I like the ride. I also think the looks are worth it as the 17's look georgeous. I guess it is a compromise but I came from a squidgy skoda so the handling is a revelation

We'd really like to do a back-to-back comparison of the ride of the SE to the Sport. Have to get to a track day / Audi meet....
