A2 Tdi Project Hi-Ho

Welcome :) Beautiful example! Love the choice of wheels, very nice!

Thanks! Yes I think they suit the car really well, I took a chance on them fitting as I couldn't find the ET number anywhere on the wheels when I bought them. I fully refurbed them put brand new tyres on them without knowing if they were going to fit or not but thankfully the gamble paid off and on the plus side I saved having to lower it :D

Hi Yes I noticed there wasn't much on in the way of events up this way, is it an Audi meet or just an A2? Yes I've been convinced about Pauls remap and will definitely be getting one. I'm still getting used to the site but so far it seems the bees knees

Sorry didn't notice this thread before - if you want to exp Paul's map give me a shout - I stay in Kelty but also go down to see Paul on too many occasions :D.

I've got the ATL engine so may be a little nippier but really not a lot in it.

Thanks for the offer but I couldn't wait and ordered a map from Paul last night so excitedly waiting for it arriving :D

The A2OC sticker set I ordered arrived today, excellent service, really wasn't expecting them to arrive so quickly. the small window stickers are going on the rear quarter windows but can't decide where/if to put the long black one on???

Customised the plain black side stripes with red and yellow pin stripes (still undecided if I like them) and added the S badges front and rear with matt black Sline badges to the side mouldings.

UPDATE. I've made the decision and ordered a set a JOM coilovers with new Meyle strut top mounts, Hd drop links, lower balljoints and outer trackrod ends. I've also managed to source a Votex kit but I also had to buy the rest of the car that it was attached to lol A 2004 1.6Fsi undecided what to do with the car, whether to put back on the road or part out to recoup some of the cost. I haven't got the car home yet so we'll see what it's like and decide from there.

Since the better weather's finally upon us, I can finally start fitting all the goodies I've been collecting over the winter. Today I tinted and fitted the front fog lights, I've still to figure out the wiring or more just the switch wiring but so far I think the tinted lenses really suit the silver A2.

You are asking for help on fog light wiring. I have a memory that the headlight switch will be prewired for fogs already and the wiring for the fogs ends up at the multi connector group at the base of the passenger A pillar which is where you hook up.

Several threads about retro fog wiring around, this one is the first I came across....

Andy

Edit. And another one....

Cheers Andy, After a quick read through it looks alot easier than I first thought it would be. Thanks for taking the time to find the links.

Thanks,
Iain

worst part is getting the wiring through from cabin to engine bay
The service flap release cable is one route :)

Hi Paul,

I've ordered the connectors off RS so hopefully they'll arrive this week so I can have a go at doing it this coming weekend. I've got the same to do to the blue Tdi it'll be good practice run ?

Cheers,
Iain

Just a quick update,

I decided to swap the false floor from my breaker into the car today. At first glance it looked like a five minute job but I forgot to factor in the build quality of the A2, which basically meant stripping the boot area bare. So two hours later with a lot of cursing and some bleeding knuckles I eventually got the job done.

I'm really pleased with how it came out, just need to find a space saver to complete it now, I'll update with some photo's in the morning,

I also forgot to add that I got the fog lights working last weekend which wasn't as bad a job as I was expecting, the biggest problem was getting my pre made loom through the bulkhead but once I had that done it was a breeze but like Depronman said in another link not all cars have the light switch prewired to the connectors at the base of the passenger A pillar.

I also swapped out my dodgy Q CCCU that was causing my DIS to flicker between boot and rear doors being open and hopefully my battery drain problem (The car hasn't been left long enough to tell if that's been cured) for the AF unit out of my breaker and got a second key blade cut and immobiliser chip programmed so I now have two working keys :):):)
