Hi all I've recently bought a 5 seater a2 TDI SE, I've replaced the injector harness and she's like new now, my only recent issue is the warning beep when I start the car :/. I'm not sure what the image is supposed to stnd for as its not in the manual from what I notice.

It looks like a circle with with 2 little barriers as such on each side. Bit like this. (O). but a lot mor pixelated lol

Can anyone help?

Regards
Matt

Hopefully the image from imageshack linked below works:

Could it be the worn brake pads light?

Hi Matt,

This error is indeed a warning there is an issue with the braking system.

The most common causes are:-
Faulty wheel sensor
Low brake pad thickness
Faulty brake pad wear sensor wiring (can occur if 17" rims are fitted, as on hard lock they can wear through the loom).

You should get the vehicle scanned to identify the error.
This can be done with VCDS which many members have invested in, or most garages should be able to pull off the current fault codes.

Cheers

Jeff

I'd say that it's worn pads but that IS shown in the manual (?), that's the same icon that came up for mine though. Mine had 50k on the clock and needed front discs and pads replaced, to give you an indication.

Thanks chaps

very helpful! I did wonder if this was something to do with brakes somewhere down the line :/ I checked the pads and the condition of the discs they look fine :/ not like new admittedly, the rear brakes I have no idea though. Is this a costly repair?

And how do I get rid of the error codes. Audi only job or will one of these obd2 code readers do the trick. Any advice is useful thank you

If the back is drums there is no sensor on them. There is a lead connecting to the (front right) brake.
Maybe you should check that the cable is in place and seated properly if the brake discs are fine.

I had the brake warning light once very briefly, it never came back after replacing the brake light switch so far as I can tell.

There's just the one sensor in the NSF brake pad i.e, UK front left. You might be able to check visually (some pads have wear indicators) but if the warning light is on and you've done around ≥50k I'd say that it's worn front pads. Rears will be fine.
How did you check the discs? There was a pronounced lip on the circumference of mine so I had them changed along with the pads. Means that they bed in nicely together, which is nice.
I went for Mintex, can't remember the cost but it wasn't bad. Skipton01 fitted mine though so labour was very reasonable ;). Thanks again Mike!

Thank you your probably right, I only checked them visually.
There is a bit of a lip and I have notice a bit of what feels like disc warpage when braking today.

Ill invest in some new pads and disc

Are these the images you see when you press the button by the rev counter?

When I press it it scrolls through a few images but it was plugged in the other day and showed no faults??

It's worth noting that if the brake fluid level is low it chimes when you put the ignition on and puts (!) on the display.

Have you checked / topped up the brake fluid level? (don't overfill, bear in mind if you do have worn pads, when you replace them the level will rise in the reservoir).

And when It did it on our car (low fluid), it never stored a fault that I could read with the Autel. (Vag Com may be different)
