A2BA - Come along, take a seat and introduce yourself ...

I am about to join this little group. I have just paid £900 for 2003 Dolphin Grey 1.4 Sport petrol (my dream car). It has the added bonus of a working OSS and rear electric windows.

It will need work doing. Runs very well but needs a service and no idea when the cam belt was changed so I'm going to get that done first. It has also had a knock on the rear drivers side at some point. It's been repaired, but pretty poorly. Also the retractable boot thing is missing, but I'm sure I'll be able to find one of those somewhere.
His name is Barney and I'll put pics up when I get him ?

I find this funny as you have a 2002 1.6 FSI and I have too :)

Then now you have a 1.4 2003 A2 same as me?

What a coincidence ?

Have you brought this Teresa ? :)

If so Boris’s REG is YH52 VWS

This A2 is YH52 VWJ

I knew it was only a matter of time Teresa - well done on the immenant purchase, sounds nice. To be honest, the rear door you're probably best just to replace it rather than try to repair.

Excellent news on the OSS and REW, obviously a bonus there!

Obviously, this needs photos ;)

Unfortunately it's the rear quarter rather than the door. I am sort if hoping that it is still not too much of a nightmare to replace with one off a doner car somehow .
Yes. It is probably worth more in parts with the working OSS, windows and lumbar support, but I'm keeping him ?

Silly me:rolleyes: it’s obviously not this one as it’s a 2002?
As you were Louis, the '52 reg covered 1st September 2002 to the end of February 2003 so it could be a 2003 car. It would be the 2003 model year I believe.

Congratulations on the new arrival, as they say :) Looking forward to meeting him.
I don't think there is a way to replace the rear quarter (with the exception of the bumper and the wheelarch of course) but you can probably get a better repair done.

What a bargain Teresa :)

Can’t wait to meet him ?

Hopefully he’s more reliable than Mabel and Boris ?

Maybe create a project Barney thread ;)?
As a 1.4, he should be. Has obviously been loved at some point , but used and abused a bit more recently I think
