A2OC Club Badges

I want badges too please. Had one of my s-line nicked, I think whilst in airport carpark. Adhesion was always solid as check regularly. Hope they come soon whether s-line or 10th anniversary.

Jason,

Unfortunately I don't think so, and I believe partly to do with finance and partly due to Mike (Skipton) removing himself from actively participating in the forum due to increasing work commitments.

I discussed this issue with A2sumo and Riverlad (our 2 Social Secretary’s) at the last social event in March and will raise it again this weekend.

It would be great if something can be sorted out as these items not only enhance the appearance of the car (imho) but also promote the club, so hopefully one of the Forum Owners or Treasurer reads the thread and kicks this into life again.

Also, If it is not possible for the club to supply the badges, it would be nice if a communication was forth-coming so members could make other arrangements where possible.

Cheers

Jeff

Tony (hotstuff's) recent sale of a couple of badges proves the continued popularity and demand for club badges. As per Jeff's post above, some clarity on whether these will be available again would be appreciated. Both the red sections on mine have either faded or fallen off, so it would be nice to replace them.

There was also popular demand for the anniversary badge, but this idea withered too.

If they won't be re-ordered due to costs or lack of time to administer the practicalities, that's fair enough, but it would be appreciated if the position on these could be stated.

Think its a combination of the finances (Ref post 6 of this thread, 300 is the minimum order qty) and the fact that Skipton is no longer an active member is the reason this project has died. In fact active owners / moderators are few and far between so it may be worth sending Ben a pm to see what he thinks.

Cheers Spike

Although I'm no longer an active posting member on here, I do keep an eye on things from time to time. I was always told that if you can say nothing nice, then say nothing at all and the vast majority of posts and topics really sadden me with the way the forum has gone and how ownership of these cars is now seen, so in the main, I've said nothing rather than been derogatory or negative. I know this is the feeling of a few of the co-owners and this is one of the reasons you don't see myself, Carl, Darren and many others around now.

However, some time for the truth regards the badges:

Firstly, the design was not finalised - some people wanted the old style badge replicating, others wanted a 10 year anniversary edition. Some wanted a red background, others blue. As Spike rightly says, there's a minimum order of 300 units, so we had to decide on one design, which wasn't going to happen anytime soon.

Secondly, there was the issue of finances:

For many years, the co-owners have been in discussions as to the best way to handle the club finances, which were then and are now handled solely by Ben. We came to the decision that there should be 3 members able to sign off on money related projects (me for badges, WoolyA2 for clothing and Ben for ongoing hosting costs) and Carl and I even signed the papers to enable this to happen. However, nothing has happened in the interim (around 2 years), so the finances are solely with Ben still.

As it took well over 2 years to recoup the costs of the first badge run, then no-one in their right mind would fund a second run out of their own pocket, as the costs would approach £1000. I am now in a position to fund the badges myself, but as there's no consensus as to what people want, then I'm not going to take the risk of being left with 250 unsold badges and being out of pocket. As it was the last time, I funded the postage out of my own pocket and have seen nothing back for this.

Whatever Ben, Carl or I have done in the past, the profits have going back into the club and I would hope that any future badge project would be run in the same way. I don't think the solution to this badge problem lies in new blood and would urge anyone who is thinking of getting badges made to be careful and to respect the club.

Well i think as the 10 year things past now the S/line style badges should be the way forward as they look the part and the quality by the most part where spot on, so may be this needs re-putting to the vote

Cheers Phil

PS Nice to see your input on this Mike as it was getting a bit lost

I think an exclusive badge is definiatly needed and all those who use this forum should voice up as to the style they would prefer from badge picture list of ideas, them when one is finalised the money comes in and the badges go out. I think this is fair as we have waited this long for some progress and the badge are very much still popular, i'm on my second set now.

Hi Phil,

Agree.....good to see Mike post again.

If there's a vote to be had I'd put my mark on exactly the same as the previous badges.
They look OEM while promoting the A2OC, which I'm guessing was the original idea.

Cheers

Jeff
