A2steve’s Used Parts service

I just worry how the parts service will be affected with Steve being in Wales, Brexit is a nightmare
Besides that I've had a few parts from Steve now, he's always happy to help and he removes and sends the parts very quickly, plus the parts are always as described. It's obvious he enjoys helping the club members and I think that makes all the difference. Don't change Steve you've got it spot on mate
Ha, he has you hooked, just like me!

Just a quick announcement regarding postage.

When advertising parts for sale from now on, I will be marking the advert as “postage from £****”

The price stated will be for economy delivery with Hermes that takes up to a week. Members will also be able to chose 24 and 48 hr delivery using Parcelforce at an increased price.

Thanks

Steve

For a number of years, I have been supplying used parts the members of this club.

The venture initially started out by purchasing a tree damaged A2 from a friend, with the aim of taking it apart to better understand how the cars were built and to improve my mechanical skills (I could barely do an oil change at this point). I didn’t anticipate that what was initially started as a tinker about with a damaged A2 would turn into a fully functioning tax registered business that is very efficient in the breakdown and supply of used A2 parts, shipping items all over the world. It will never hit the FTSE100 but as a part-time business I’m proud of what it’s become and it puts a few extra quid in my pocket each month.

I’ve always based my model on 3 things, price, service and enthusiasm and sticking to these 3 principles have stood me well. 95% of my customers are repeat customers, many of whom I’ve been supplying for years.

Price - I have never charged more for an item than I would be willing to pay for it myself. Whilst this has meant that over the years I have lost thousands in potential profit, I can end each day knowing that I have helped hundreds of people.

Service – the business has essentially been running 24/7 for the last couple of years. Where else could you message for a part at 2am on a Sunday and get it shipped out on a Monday morning?

Enthusiasm – Unlike the commercial breakers, I’m actually an A2 enthusiast who has been heavily involved in the A2 scene for around 5 years. I love nothing more than seeing someone’s project A2 develop, with the joy that brings them; knowing that I’ve supplied the parts to get it there and been involved in the process.

I have been a little quiet this month in terms of the number of parts I’ve posted, but it’s simply because I’m working on a petrol A2 that deserves some love and attention before sale. Once this is out of the way, normal service shall resume.

I’ve decided to post this following the announcement from the admin team that member services can now be advertised. Any feedback I could receive from customers past and present would be most welcome.

Best wishes

Steve
Hi Steve,

Haven't spoken before but I've read /enjoyed most of your posts

My bottle of tyre goo seems to have leaked everywhere under the false floor and I'd like to replace with a skinny spare wheel & tyre combo to keep in the boot instead / avoid this problem in future
Fixing bolt a bonus but not essential
I've checked the tyre inflator pump and it works fine
Please let me know if/when you might have one for sale

Many thanks

Chris

PS I live near Bath and could collect from Wales if helpful
PPS not sure if I'm following comms protocols re messaging etc

Hi Chris

I generally don’t keep a wanted list for items that are in high demand. For every item such as a spare wheel, rear cupholder etc there are normally many more people wanting them than I have available. To keep things fair I advertise these via the forum marketplace.

Please feel free though to ask for anything else and I will see what I can do.

Hi Steve,
Looking for a rear subframe for the 1.4 petrol. Not sure if this is okay with Hermes postage? Intend on travelling to Tenby next summer for a holiday, so could collect. What is your thoughts?
Paul

Hi Paul

It is way outside the size and weight restrictions for all of the courier network so would need to be sent on a pallet. If you would want it sent that way then that’s something I could arrange. I don’t really have the space to keep an axle here for a year and to be honest it wouldn’t do it any good either. If you would rather collect then get in touch with me closer to the time. I’m bound to have a breaker in ?

Hi Steve, don't suppose you have an air con motor for a 1.4 bby petrol by any chance as mine has given up the fight for life?

Hi Steve. Would you happen to have a the rear parking speaker? Mines kaput.
Afternoon,

As Steve is unable to assist on this rare occasion then I am more than happy to step in (if you don’t mind of course Steve). Here is a spare I have in the garage which I’m happy to send you:

It’s in working order and was tested a couple of months ago when fitting the PDC Sensors to the OEM A2.

It’s available for dispatch today including me covering postage all for a small donation to the Club.

You may have to set up a separate login and password as the Donate and Shop areas operate independently of each other.

If you’re interested then just respond via PM with your address and I’ll get it in a Jiffy bag.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom. Thanks very much. I’ll PM you now. Cheers.

A very big belated thankyou to Steve for supplying me with a window/mirror regulator motor. My wing mirror would not go up or down which gave me a problem when reversing onto my drive. It works perfectly now and the prompt arrival of the part was very much appreciated.

Cheers
Dave.

Hi A2 Steve,
I had posted a feeler out for assistance to get a used replacement window regulator switch for my Audi A2. The part number I was given by the garage is 8ZO 959 851 B 5PR. Have you got any, even if they're not in tip-top condition as long as they function? Or can you point me in a useful direction that's cost effective. I'm located in Surrey.
Kind regards,
SDE

Do you have rear electric windows, or just the front? I can help either way, but just need confirmation.
