ABS/Brake pad wiring repairs

Yes please. Didn't reply earlier, picked up that A4 avant after work and it died just as it got home...bad battery!

I did have a quick look for a compatible alternative and yes there are lots that do the same job, but I did not yet find one I would be happy buying. The 6Q one you bought seems quite close, the connectors look right and possibly the Y branch has the groove to slot into the U prongs on the hub, but it is the other suspension rubbers higher up that worry me. Let's hope it is suitable but look at it carefully when you get it, at worst you can always send it back.

The 6Q repair harness is identical to that fitted to the A2, grommets are in the same places, to the mm.

That's excellent, any chance of a picture of the harness and the packet it came in, even better stretched out old harness against new for posterity, I am sure in the future many members will benefit from this snippet of information.

Here's the 6Q part fitted, lengths between rubbers are good, the harness grommets are slightly different style but fit the forks and clips ok, the only "fun" will be releasing the teardrop panel grommet from the old cable...

That's looking good, I thought the rubber grommets looked different but if they work, great. I thought the 6Q harness had the teardrop inner wing grommet, what's wrong with it? I am sure you will find a way round any problem.

Keep up the good work.

Havnt read all the posts but if you need a hand I just replaced both ABS cables on my FSI. I crimped the wires on the inside of the engine then used heat shrink wrap over them to tidy things away from mosture. Did each side in less than an hour. All cable colours matched. I purchased both cables from an Audi dealership as I had a bit of a nightmare using auctions sites for the cables...

Word of caution when repairing or replacing looms. Audi / VW were not very consistent when it came to wire colours. It is always best to use a meter to determine the correct lead to connect.
I was sure that I had double/triple checked this, but still managed to miss that the brown and black were transposed on the 6Q harness, compared to the 8Z...
So when I am in a better mood, I'll strip all the shrinkwrap off and redo the whole job.
Grrrr!

True, just massively irritating when the alarm and fault code cleared with a new abs sensor, wheels back on, tyres on the groud...then it decided that it wasn't happy after all.

Still as you know what is wrong a quick fix. I check wiring diagrams to see where the wiring is then use a meter to make sure I have the correct wire, no longer even look at the colours of the wires.
