ABS EPC light on

THe ABS and EPC light stay on. There was a code suggesting the front left side sensor ( car is RHD so I assume passenger side) which I have replaced. A hand obd reader shows no codes stored. I have removed fuse 40 to see if there was any change but exactly the same both lights on . When changing the brake pads I noticed the right front loom from the speed sensor had been touching the wheel at some time and the rubber had rubbed through and was now exposing the wires. Any clues please ?

It's probably worn through to the cables, hence the dash lit up like a xmas tree.
It is possible to do a repair on it, but easier to find a replacement cable off a breaker and splice it in(in the engine bay)

Unless Andy has one available, (and of course assuming that you wish to buy one) I have one already removed from the car.

Is it part no 1 KO 927 903 A ? If so I have one - I bought it thinking it was for the passenger side but as it came from Latvia I guess there was a mix up over w3hich side it was. There is no place to connect the brake pad wires on it.

Yes its the passenger side, but with the loom for the brake pad wires to be connected but they would have to be connected with spade connectors or similar. The loom is otherwise complete and runs up a far as inside the engine bay to be able to splice it in there. I can do it for £10 plus postage.

This is what I have. It only has 2 wires and nowhere to connect the brake pad wires as far as I can see ?

Thanks for the confirmation Steve -I suspected it was. I will fit it to the drivers side as the one there is rubbed through.

Something puzzles me - VCDS threw up this code 00283 -Abs wheel speed sensor Front Left. I replaced the sensor on the passenger side thinking that left meant passenger side on RHD. The ABS light stayed on. The ABS cable on the Drivers side had been touching the wheel and one of the wires was cut right through. I replaced the Drivers Right side cable and temporarily twisted the wires together in the engine bay to the original cable there( awaiting a Scotch lock joiner to be delivered). ABS lights still on. My puzzle is why the drivers side ABS fault did not show on VCDS ?

All solved now -it turns out that there were three problems . 1 the replacement loom advertised as for an A2 was for a Golf Mark 5 and the polarity was different colours.A replacement loom from a scrap A2 was then fitted. 2 The bearing hub was not fitted correctly (garage did not have the special tool ) . 3 the two front new sensors fitted were replaced with ones from a scrap A2 as the electrical connection lug depth was different and it was known the scrap ones worked. It was quite a puzzle altogether but now no lights in the dash. Lesson learned only get parts from an A2-
