ABS wiring termination.

The speed sensor terminated at the 10-pin black connector at the bottom of the A pillar (in front of the accelerator). It should be pins 9 & 10, but check with a meter.

The trim panel extends right from the pedal area up to near the air vent and along to the joint in the sill, towards the N pillar.

To remove it, get all 8 fingers under the trim at the door entry, by wiggling them under the rubber seal there and then quickly and forcefully yank up to release the 3 clips.

Unhook from the next trim at the B pillar and wiggle it back to the rear of the car until it is out. There is a small fillet piece running up the door near the air vent which needs to be taken out too - it sometimes sticks with the metal grips that hold the rubber to the metal frame.

To put it back is the reverse of removal.

Mike

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR ABS fault

Can anyone tell me how to test for a faulty speedo sender .Reason being I am trying to eliminate an ABS fault which appears to be affecting my speedo and fuel gauge. Checked out all the fuses, checked out all the plugs, replaced ABS sensor + loom and the ABS fault is winning.Scan shows front right output at fault with no other codes showing.Speedo still won't work and fuel gauge still erratic with offending ABS sensor disconnected(thought it might be pulling speedo down)no such luck, next thought is to disconnect speedo incase it is pulling fuel gauge down. Not sure if I have two seperate faults or one big one.Going a bit loopy with this one:(

Hi David,

Please check your hotmail, as I've sent you a word document detailing the full fault finding sequence for the ABS system.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike now to try an make sense of it.I take it the abs module is in the passenger footwell.

No - it's in the engine bay, front right as you look into the bay from the front of the car. It's a black unit with one big electrical connector and loads of metal pipes.

Cheers,

Mike

Abs

Thanks Mike got your mail by the way.Sorry for the delay been snowed under at work.Speedo is now working (sort of) sorted itself out.It will register up to 20 mph until I get the 3 beeps indicating traction control/ABS fault. On the last beep the speedo registers correct speed and functions normally after that:confused:The diagnostic software I have access to is a commercial diagnostic unit(Britool) for multiple vendors. It goes into extreme depth when checking modules including fuel consumption, sensors, road speed at each wheel, brake pressure it will even check clocks etc This is one impressive bit of kit ;)I do intend to get to the bottom of this fault and will keep everyone posted when I get a result:)
Cheers David

Update

Been tryin to find an ABS fault for a wee while now:(Replaced sensors, wiring etc no joy.Crawled all over the wee car multi-meter in hand, stumped totally.Had to change the wheel bearing as it was getting a bit noisy and lo an behold ABS prob has vanished:eek:.Looks like there is a pick up built into the wheel bearing for the ABS.So if you have a persistent fault with the ABS check your wheel bearing could be running a bit rough and throwing your ABS out:D
