Absolutely Gutted!!

I don’t usually contact customers by the way, im not some kind of stalker lol, I will be looking into buying an a2 in the near future so thought I would join the forum (just sold my 2009 vw scirocco)
If you would like any info on your car let me know, thanks, Ryan

What brilliant news for Glen and a warm welcome to Ryan! Glen's wee ally pal sounds like its in very safe hands :D :D

Well, if it was me I would appreciate your post Ryan and I am sure that Glen will equally be comforted by the contents of your reply.

Pleased to hear that Glen's pride and joy is being treated to a professional, quality repair and will soon be returned to pristine status.

Welcome Ryan and good luck in your search for an A2. Check out the buying section as our buying and selling guru Murdo often posts some good examples.

it would only happen on an A2 forum.... Excellent. Welcome!

Bret

I second this, i think it just shows the pull this car has on people that they would post a reply like this.

Its nice to know that there are people that due take alot of pride in the cars they are working on

Welcome Ryan and good luck with your search. Now we deffinatly have a bodyshop guru on board ;):D

Cheers Phil

Hi, hope you don’t mind me contacting you, I noticed the A2OC sticker and badges (very cool by the way) on your car in our body shop (very nice car aswel), my names Ryan, I work at Swansway. The car got brought into our workshop today and will be stripped by a member of staff (V.A.G mechanic) im the panel beater there and I have been trained by Audi in Germany where I went for a 2 week course in aluminium so your car is in very safe hands, as most other body shops that aren’t Audi aluminium approved don’t have the training or the correct tools for the aluminium. There is a separate booth (cost 50k I think with the tools!!!) where your car will be repaired, and separate tools to make sure there is no cross contamination between aluminium and steel. The car is hit quite hard, and is needing a new back panel and 1/4 panel I think (haven’t had chance to read the job card yet)

Hi Ryan, just got back into the country, many thanks for the contact, been in to Swansway today and spoke with Darren. Very impressed with the place, and appreciate Darren's help.
As I said, have had a lot of audis before with work and private, but I have never liked one as much as the A2 which is why i was worried it would be messed up,but having seen the Swansway setup feel so much better!!
Pass on my thanks to Darren again, valued his time.
Will get my insurer to get a move on,a bit annoyed having had the roof working again that it now seems knacked, but if I get it back at all it will be a bonus!
Cheers
Glen

i think your car is now authorised, and the panels will be here for it tomorrow, so i think i will start work on it either tomorrow or thurs, there is one small panel that i wil have to order which doesnt come up on the computers, but cant yet due to it being squished lol so once the panels are off, i can get the part number off it and order it, i can take pictures of the work being done if you wish, but i would understand if you dont as the car will lok a bit bare when i take the damaged panels off lol, thanks, ryan

Another thumbs up. Provided Glen's Ok with it, it'd be great to see the repair process on an A2 :D

"There is a separate booth (cost 50k I think with the tools!!!) where your car will be repaired"

Excellent, the presidential suite occupied. :)

hi ryan, thanks for update,if you can do pictures, go for it!
One thing i did ask, was if it was possible, to put reversing sensors in whilst the car is in the repair stage, clearly i would pay for the extra work.
not sure if this is poss, but i was told i would be given a price.
Thanks again
Glen

ok cool i wil upload pictures later(did a bit of work today and took pictures just incase lol)

and as for the parking sensors i will ask darren tomorrow as he strugles to remember things most the time lol

right, basically one of the mechanics stripped the car for me to a decent level, but i had to remove a few more bits and bobs aswel before the panel work started

pictures are a bit crappy as there on my other phone as my new one is broke!!

Image0074.jpg

a picture to show how big the booth is, or how small your cars are lol
Image0075.jpg

rough cut the back panel off so i can get to the rivvets easier
Image0076.jpg

and the same with the 1/4 panel
Image0077.jpg

and heres one of the tools (im sure its around 6k just for this one tool)
Image0078.jpg

if anyone doest know your cars are held together with glue and rivvets, and for glens peace of mind we have all the propper repair methods from audi, and the correct rivvets/bond/tools ect, so its done to audi standards :D

fantastic stuff ryan, when i went to see it I was amazed it had its own repair booth!
have to say it is a little disconcerting to see the little car in bits, but feel reassured its being done by you guys
keep 'em coming, yor help is really appreciated
cheers
Glen

From a depressing and woeful beginning, this thread has turned into a truly brilliant photo record of bringing an A2 back to full health.

Great work and great photos so far - I look forward to seeing how things progress.

Cheers

Mike
