Activate passanger airbag

Hi, i recently bought a A2 for about 430£, its my first car and im very happy with it, one of the main problems with it is that the passanger airbag is deactivated. There is a sticker stating so and when i checked with an obd reader it says that the airbag is deactivated.
I dont have the lock in the in my A2 that lets you toggle it on and off, so im wondering if i can activate it myself or do i need to bring it to an audi dealer?

ive read some threads in the forum from 2003 that people have went to the dealer to get it deactivated. Is this an option now 20 years later? Has anyone figuered out another way?

Try unplugging then plugging it back in and reset the fault code
I tried plugging it in and out, atleast now I know that it's actually plugged in.

But is still inactivated, it isn't really a fault code more of an information. I can't toggle it with my obd reader, do I need to download the vsdc program? And can I run the vsdc lite with any obd to usb cable?

It is likely that your OBD reader is not able to reset fault codes. VCDS will clear most fault codes. Apart from 10 euros for a cable, it's free.
Well worth a try. Many generic OBD readers do not support VAG specific functions.
VCDS will be useful in future too.

So I don't need ross techs own cable?

No, search for "kkl cable" on ebay.
UK ebay returns this:
Hopefully your local ebay will return similar.
The most important thing is to install the matching usb to serial driver driver, on your pc, before you plug the cable in for the first time. Install the driver, switch off, plug the cable in, then switch on the pc. Lastly install vcds lite. Follow the instructions to find out the comms port number that the cable is allocate to. Good luck.
