Has anyone successfully added a DVD player to their SatNav Plus system ?

Had a couple of long family journeys recently and it struck me that this would help to whil away the boredom. And yes I do know about the picture cuttingout abve 5mph - I already have that in hand ;)

Just wondering where you can site the DVD player ?

You can add a DVD-Player fairly easy if you have the TVTuner, all you need is an adapter cable that slides into the cable from the TV-tuner to the head unit (I have fitted one of those, contact me if you can not get one in the UK, the cable was made by "Dietz Automotive" , part no. is 1230), I have hooked up my Powerbook to it and watched DVD´s...

I think you can either fit the DVD-Player in the Glove compartment or maybe on the left side of the trunk...

Thanks Frido,

Yes we have the TV Tuner option in our A2. So how would you select the DVD, would it still be by the Videosource option (AV1/AV2) ?

I assume the adapter cable saves running a separate cable down to teh the head unit ?

Do you have a remote control to start/stop the DVD ?

I was wondering whether the DVD could go under the passenger seat.

Yes, you select the two inputs the adapter cable gives you with the videosource option... but if you mount the DVD somewhere in the front, you have to run a cable from the boot to the front, because all the adapter cable gives you are 6 cinch inputs (2x Video, 4x Audio). I have used my notebook with an Ericsson phone as a remote to control the DVD, but most 12V-capable players have a seperate IR sensor, so that should be no problem....

Thansk Jom and Frido,

I'll have to measure the glovebox - always seems a bit small to me.

I'd assumed that the video inputs were available on the back of the Sat Nav Plus head unit ? Has anyone got a picture of the back of it ? Saves taking mine out.

There is an adaptor that makes the video inputs availiable on the back of the Head unit, but that is only if you DO NOT have the TV Tuner (it goes into the TV Tuner input). The connection goes from (and through) the TV Tuner into the SatNavPlus (because it only has RGB inputs, for example). I will take a picture of the adapter cable tomorrow...

Here are the pictures of the cable... sorry it took so long... the blue inputs are for video, the black ones for Audio, one cable goes to the front of the car to my iPod (with a filter put in to reduce engine noise in the signal)...
