Advice Needed

Hi All

My first service is due since I have owned my A2. I've a 1.6 FSI SE and I've been trying to work out what oils etc I need for the service. Can you please recommend the BEST for my little beauty. I want to make sure it runs at its best. I am a total muppet under the bonnet, so I want to make sure my mechanic stuffs the right gear into her!

cheers, Ethan

Hi Ethan,

Welcome from a fellow Mancunian!

If you are planning on going down the variable service regime, stick with Castrol Longlife 3 - it's what Audi use and is pukka stuff - about £12 per litre from the dealers' service counter (which is cheaper than Halfrauds!).

If you ever need any diagnostics or work doing, give me a shout!

Cheers,

Mike

Cheers Mike. I'll look into that and I'll deffo give you a shout if I need to.

Thanks, Ethan

Hi Ethan
Just to add to Mike's suggestion, the top spec oil for your 1.6 FSI is VW 50400 which is suitable for both long life and standard services. Castrol Edge seems to be replacing the Longlife range of oils and is available at Halfords in 4 litre cans for approx £44. There are several grades of Edge so just make sure you pick up a can with the VW 50400 spec.

Cheers Spike

Nice one spike, I'm gonna go out and have a look around at the weekend. Theres a Halfrauds and VW dealer round the corner from me, so I'll go and do my research.

Cheers, Ethan

Like spike and mike said the new 504 seems to be running fine in my car for variable service, I had 4.3L put in today of the new Castrol Edge SLX 5W 30 LONGLIFE 3. VW 504 00 / 507 00, which audi is using for petrol and diesel cars (as mike tells me) quote quote :)

Just wanted to thank you guys for the advice. I made sure my mechanic got the right stuff. All's well... just taxed, MOT'd and serviced her. Running like new and all set for summer (if it arrives!)

Cheers, Ethan

It's been like summer here the last few days, clear skys, warm and the fresh grass in the air :)

Fresh grass in the air - what have you been smoking Richard!!!??

I presume you mean the smell of freshly cut grass in the air.

Cheers,

Mike
