Airbag Issues

Its always a good idea to check the under seat multiplugs first...…..they move every time you sit in the seat through weight on the cushion.....FIRSTLY disconnect the battery leave the car to rest for 15mins then unplug the connectors spay with contact cleaner and replug together do this a few times with both front seats, reconnect battery clear fault codes and see if the fault reoccurs...…...you can of course hardwire the plugs if you're handy with a soldering iron........Always my first point of call with airbag faults on any car....
Ok, so i followed this advise, and hey presto !!! SUCCESS !!!!!!:)

Red lit air bag light went out after i had cleaned the connector under the seat, plugged in reader and erased the code.

Sorry to notice youv'e been banned since i last logged in !...???

Thank you for your help anyway, much appreciated

Hi all,

To conclude the thread...

After removing the centre tunnel plastics to access the airbag control module, it was noticed that when the airbag module was unbolted from the car, the issue of the two airbags jumping between 'correct' and 'resistance too high' on VCDS disappeared. As such, I checked if it came back by putting a test wire between the case of the module and car to earth it - the issue came back. An earthing/interference issue was suspected.

The only recent change to the car has been the addition of a dashcam. With the airbag module bolted back in, the power adapter was unplugged and the issue instantly went away; proving that the adapter/dashcam was the cause.

The power adapter has been replaced with a different 'USB charger' type adapter and the issue is resolved - the airbag light has been reset and hasn't come back.

In short, the airbags, wiring and control module were all fine! :)

Thanks,

Matt.
