Alarm

I wanted to lock the doors and stop the internal alarm sensors working, so that I could leave the sun roof open.

Now you would think that this was easy by pressing the button on door pillar, closing the door and locking as usual – this didn’t work and the alarm set as usual.
So I tried to do the locking with the key, by turning in the locking direction twice within a second – again this didn’t work and the alarm set as usual, but I did find out that if you keep the key twisted for too long it closes the sunroof (and the windows if they were open)!!

Any suggestions??

Come on guys - I was hoping for a suggestion of how to set this, even if it was that you have to press the button while standing on 1 leg and whistling "Auld Lang Syne" on the second Thursday of the Month!!!!

Do you think it's broken and it should function with a simple press - it looks like there is a small square LED on the button, should this illuminate once pressed?

Kind Regards in anticipation

Hi SnubNose

I Hope this Information helps you, it's copied straight from my owners handbook...

The Interior monitor triggers an alarm if it detects movement inside the vehicle, you should deactivate the interior monitor if there is a possibility that that the alarm could be set off, for instance, by a pet or by an object moving about inside the car.

Switching the System off >

- Open the drivers door
- Press the switch on the door pillar
- Then Lock the vehicle

Thr diodes on the door panels will light up for about 3 seconds when the interior monitor has been switched off. The diodes will then flash rapidly for about 3 seconds after the vehicle is locked.

There then follows an interval of about 30 seconds before the diodes start flashing slowly

The interior monitor is automatically switched on again next time the vehicle is locked.

Hi Paul

Thanks very much for taking the time to respond - I have just been out on the drive trying it - to no avail.

I left the window open, pushed the button, closed the door and pressed the locking button on the fob.
The LED on the door flashed as usual and then went in to a slow flash. I put my hand in the window and waved it about and the alarm went off.

All I can assume is the button is not working???

Does the little LED rectangle on the button light up when you press it?

Yes - if it doesn't there is a fault with either the button or the wiring from it.

A VAG-COM scan will be able to tell you more.

You could always pop the button out to have a look if the wiring looks ok.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for your help guys.

I've tried it again and the interior inhibit still didn't work (although it has proved that the alarm does!!).

I removed the button, the cable and plug were firmly in place, so I unpluged and pluged it in again, wiggled it all around, refitted it and......... it still doesn't work.

So I suppose that it's going to have to wait till i'm near someone with vag-com to resolve this one.

Thanks again for your suggestions
