A call from Claimfast today confirmed the repairs- an Offside Rear Lamp and Bumper- uneconomical.

I'm feeling incandescent with fury...

Yes agree ask insurance company for the car back and a cash balance settlement and get repaired yourself those parts easily found as long as little or no damage behind bumper fine ..

Looks like you are close to me, if you get a bumper and are not a diy’er I can fit it for cheap.

You should not have to buy it back if they have not processed the write off with the DVLA. The car is yours, you decide if its written off or not. Just get the parts and repair it.
