I hadn't any idea of the size of this thing. So I was pleasantly surprised with the small carton UPS delivered.

I had the new alloy intercooler fitted yesterday at WOM and it really is a quality piece of kit. Fits snug and looks good. I would like to say a big thankyou to Rob for making me coffee and to Marcus for his hard work !. :)

It also goes without saying that I appreciate Toms efforts in bringing these into production and sale..... if you wish to post a photo Rob it would be appreciated as I,m having the usual problems.

Cheers
Dave :)

Hi Dave,

Your photos from the install yesterday should be attached. It was good to catch up and add a work of art to your lovely 90!

Cheers
Rob

How much are they ?

Thanks

James

Hi James,

All the information you need is in the first post of this thread. There was a group order earlier this year, but a few extras were made, meaning a limited number of these are now available on demand.

To summarise... the Pro Alloy intercooler costs £495. Yes, they're not cheap, but they're custom made by an FIA-approved manufacturer and their fit is perfect. They not only solve the reliability issues associated with the OEM intercooler (and cheap third-party units), but also employ a number of innovations to increase their effectiveness as a heat exchanger.

Cheers,

Tom

The shortcomings of the original Audi unit and existing third-party replacements are documented here: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?32986&p=281492#post281492

A full description of all the benefits of this intercooler, and how these benefits are achieved, can be read here: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?32986&p=281493#post281493

Hi, can anybody tell us if they notice any improvement in performance with this intercooler? Thanks

Hi Irfan a8,

Since installing mine, I've definitely noticed a difference in performance because the Pro Alloy intercooler forms part of the TDI120. However, it's impossible for me to say how much of the performance increase is due to the intercooler and how much is due to the upgraded turbo, higher-flow fuel injectors, etc, etc.

The performance of any intercooler will depend on atmospheric temperature and an array of other conditions. As such, once an intercooler is fitted to the car, it's difficult to get proper scientific, objective data because there are too many variables. However, Pro Alloy developed their core technology many years ago and have yet to find anything better. So, despite the A2's intercooler position being far from ideal, I'm confident this intercooler will do a better job than anything else out there. A few members who have had this intercooler fitted have told me that they feel their car is performing better as a result, but that's anecdotal.
I'd be interested to know if anyone does a before and after rolling road test, with a remap written to suit the car with the Pro Alloy intercooler fitted.

The major advantage of the Pro Alloy unit is reliability, even in a tuned A2. There's no way the A2's turbo will ever produce enough boost to break one of these. However, an increase in performance is a nice side effect. :)

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks for the info Tom , ill keep this in mind but at the moment I am flat broke so ill have to try n do the basics on my A2 first then take it from there.

Are these still available

Morning , I believe Tom still has those for sale , I have tagged Tom @timmus

I have one fitted to Basil around 4 weeks ago by WOM autos , whom also has some stock on the shelf , unsure if they would offer them for resale.

Those intercoolers are very well made , and will last the life of the vehicle , so well worth the spend if you can afford one

Regards Mark

Are these still available?

Yes, a very limited number are still available.

Cheers,

Tom

PS: I'm currently struggling with a flare-up for a pre-existing musculoskeletal issue and cannot type for myself. I have to dictate and have someone else type for me. As such, I apologise if you're waiting on a reply to a private message. I'll do my best to get back to everyone as soon as possible.
