Alternative Alloys rather than 9 spoke 8L0601025AC

Hi all, my little 9 spoke genuine Audi A2 alloy wheels are prone to buckling when hitting potholes, or worse still puncturing the 205/40 R17 Tyres. What Audi Alloy A2 wheels are the best alternatives so I can alternate for winter tyres, (or simply not low profile) and what is the part number of the alloys so I can find some on eBay.
thanks

there is a lot of choice in the vag range 100mm PCD and around 34 offset 6J
The A1 wheels fit a treat, I have 15" A1 wheels, but there are also A1 16" and 17"
not to mention the A3 pepper pots, A2 15" forged wheels, 16" SE wheels (cheap as chips)

Nice Amazon ?

You can also fit tyres with slightly larger sidewalls with no ill effects - 205/45 on the 17"s, 185/55 on 16"s. That's a radius increase of about 3% which takes up all the known speedo-error.

I have some 185/65 CrossClimates on 15" rims too, which are about 5% above reference size, these are very comfortable and the pepperpot rim design (from the A3 8L) keeps a lot of the water off the brake discs, as well as being very lightweight.

Thanks for the advice and pointing me in the right direction. I sourced 4x16” for £40 yesterday! Now just need to make the right size and manufacturer of tyre choice. 195/45 or 195/50 or 205/45 is the size I’m looking at. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts. Kumho are what my Audi Garage last put on my 17” wheels. Prefer something which is All Season and can take a few potholes!

Good buy for £40 ?

I'm running 195/50's on a set of 16"s on my other active A2 which provide a reasonable blend of comfort and handling. That's only about 1% above reference size so they should be absolutely fine for you. I've also driven the same car on 205/45 on different 16" rims, which rode nicely.

I think the deciding factor could be the 6J width of those wheels, 195 is an ideal width for them, whereas 205 is given as a maximum - see https://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/tyre-equivalence-advice.html

£40... bloody hell I would have bitten their arm off for that as my little 15s are REALLY knackered and need a full on refurb.

I also run 195/50/16 (on the front) I’d recommend this all round, mine are also Kumho I found them to be the best balance of price/grip/efficiency/noise.

Could you possible post a picture of one of your wheels and wheel arch with 195/50 R16 so I can see what the sidewall looks like.

I only have pictures taken from the rear quarters on my phone (rear running 205/50/16)
So will take a front side on pic tomorrow for you, unless somebody beats me to it tonight.

I've no decent shots of the wheels on the car currently wearing them, but think I've got what you're looking for from previous photos. These are the same wheels and tyres when they were on my other A2 which, like the one they're currently on, sits slightly down at the back. They're basically almost exactly the same to look at as the 185/50 reference size, except being on TT Ronal 16" alloys they sit out in the arches a little more. Hope these help.

I’m a big fan of wheels filling arches and yours being marginally above reference size they fill the arches well. Taller profile will mean marginally better ride. Something I’ll definitely consider.

“Sitting down at the back” - mine did too as it’s still on the original springs and dampers however when I had the alloys refurbed the car was on axle stands for 4 days with no weight on them together with a day whilst I was changing gearbox oil (rear wheels hanging), now I have what appears to be the same clearance as new. That may change in weeks to come but for for now is a bit higher.

thank you.

195/55R16 would fit. Same outside diameter as 185/65R15 and 205/45R17.

Michelin CrossClimate 195/55R16 91H

Resurrecting this thread, has anyone seen a set of 10-spoke 17” A1 S Line alloys on an A2?

Pics of the wheels attached; there are sets on eBay with 215/40 tyres that would work at a squeeze, making the full tyre / wheel sets a viable option at tyre change time.

According to the Audi online parts catalogue, it looks like those Audi A1 alloy rims have a specification of 7.5Jx17 ET36 5/100 and have either OEM part number 8X0601025BM or 8X0601025BN.

The A2 is a lightweight car so likes lightweight wheels. Those wheels might be quite heavy as they are made for the A1 which is a heavier car. 215/40R17 tyres on 7.5J rims might rub.
