Alternator Tensioner

Hi All
Changed my alternator tensioner about three months and the associated noise has returned. Should there be a guarantee on these items?

I fitted it myself but the part was from Audi. Any other item would carry a guarantee I would have though.

Any advise please

Thanks

Audi parts have a 2 year warranty. As you fitted the tensioner yourself, normal practice is for the parts dept to return it to Audi for analysis. If they confirm its faulty you get a replacement. This means you usually pay for a new one up front then eventually get your money back.

I may need to replace the alternator pulley as suggested earlier in one of your thread.

Thanks again for the prompt response as always.

The tools for replacing the pulley are now quite cheap on e.bay. There are two types - either a M10 spline drive or T50 Torx type bit. If you plan to do the job yourself, check the spline type in the end of the alternator shaft or buy the kit with both types included - http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_sacat=-1&_...=231061310103&trknvp=sid=p710-63920-30994-7/4
