Is it possible to retrofit an earlier type front inspection flap to a later model?

It is a small point, but I think the earlier inspection flap looked really funky, unlike the more recent 'normal' grille type.

Anyone any idea, please?

Yes, it's pretty easy too - I've done it to my 2005 A2, which came with the slatted grille, as I preferred the earlier design.

Mike, what did you do with your slatted grille as I prefer that one to the 'smooth' one. Been trying to get one from a breakers but not many A2broken at the moment........

Nige, can we not do a swap, mine is an 03 A2, any good to you, it is in good condition, do you have slatted grille??
 
Anyone got a piccy of the later slated grill please, I cant think what they look like.

I am with you in principle, millie, but I don't actually own one yet! :eek:

It was just that I will be going for a later model, and more than likely it will have the later slatted grille.

looks good I shall have to see if I can find a later one once I've sorted the door straps.
 
Slatted Grile

Have you tried e-bay. Sometimes you get some crashed A2's on there being broken up, you may find what you want!

Have a look at the 'few bits left' thread.Martings has an old style inspection flap for sale still.

I concur with "Brads", Martings has one for sale and it looks to be in good order(seen it this morning whilst picking up a Headlight from him).

As long as the price is right you won't go wrong with Glen(martings).
