Angry Bee

I know a guy in Germany who has done this conversion. After much discussion he advised fuel consumption is poor..... because he can't help squirting it everywhere. He has never driven it carefully to see what he could achieve!

I completely understand this, however even doing this it does seem about the same as my 1.4i, amazed by the power being where you need it all the time, but for smiles it needs revving it just wants more to get to the red line all the time

Well known science theory...More Power = More fun= Less fuel economy...…..
Something to do with relativity...…..

So today I fixed an issue that has been bugging me for a while, I was getting an engine light for the rear lambda sensor, after watching the readings and checking the heater was working, I concluded I must have the non heater wires the wrong way round.... today I swapped them round and bingo now I’m getting normal readings and no more engine light!

Last night, i changed the battery and rerouted sone cables for the alternator as i thought they were catching the selector tower, unfortunately they weren’t and it looks like i’ll need to readjust the gear linkage again. As reverse seems to catch a little all other gears are great just reverse

Morning Edward. Try taking the counter-weight off the selector tower and greasing the area with a copious amount of CV grease or similar. I did this last week on the TDI90 that's being picked up at the weekend and the gear selection is now like a hot knife through butter (compared to other TDI's) typical really now that I've sold it :)

Any chance you could do a how to with pics for this, as I think csi90 could do with this mod.

Thank you Steve I’ll take a look I do think it’s light grease, every other gear is very nice just reverse is is dodgy the first time.

So an update, i have done 400 miles in the car so far, a couple of fault have appeared during this time, one of the new rear braking is sticking, most likely something to do with the handbrake cable, and a g28 and g40 out of correlation fault, this i,m sure is related to the timing. So for both these faults i will take her to the garage for it to be looked at.

apart from this i fitted a fancy gear knob and yellow stitched gator.

Nice work sir. Do you have a link? I could use a nice red or orange one.

Well it’s 2 different bits.

This is the leather bit

This is the type of gear knob

I bought one of these gators with red stitching and eventually had to remove - just always seem to come way from the ring due to a slight lack of material from my POV. Maybe they have either modified or I fitted it wrong!

When I fitted mine it took a while to get the leather under enough to hold, it looked wrong when I fitted it but looks a lot better after using it for a while

A couple of quick updates the cam crank correlation was caused by an after market cam sensor a vag one resolved this.

Currently having the cam shaft actuator remanufactured as the VVT didn’t seem to be working as it should. This part number is shared with the a2 FSI and the 1.4fsi very rare engine which was used in the “3L” petrol version of the lupo.

So the actuator is back from being repaired, it was damaged inside and the amazing guys that did the work remanufactured a part to repair it. Don’t see much of that these day!

Here is the service

This is relevant to the 1.6fsi also.

Nice to know that even in these unusual times there are still companies / people prepared to go out of their way to make customers happy.

What hubs are you using Edward? I’ve got Fabia VRS ones on mine and now that they have beaded in the brake difference is night and day compared to standard.

The Skoda Fabia VRS hubs, they look like the easiest route, these are golf mk4/tt callipers
