Annoying engine problem A2 1.4 16v aua

The main problem is that i have vag com and no codes are detected.
And everything i done so far is money waste...

Hello,

What if its the MAP sensor that has now finally broken.
I cleaned my MAP a few times but in the end I had to get a new one.

Worth a try, there cheap.

Cheers

Andy

But if broken i think the ecu will throw code ?
Or its sending wrong data only ?
Can i do some basic test on the map sensor?

It might just report wrong amount or report incorrectly, could be dirty too - i think you can see a readout of it in live data though so as long as there is more airflow shown with more rpms it should be alrightish i'd guess?

I think @Weetank2 is correct with leads or coil pack. My experience with BM's doesn't always throw a code.
Have you checked the leads.

4th gear suggests car is under highest load

Hello,

I've looked on eBay map sensors are £10 in the UK.
Have you put a new O2 lambda sensor on the exhaust underneath the car? Theses are also cheap in the UK about £20.
Its a very important part which will assist with your fuel economy.

I see from your earlier posts that you replaced your HT coil pack leads.

Just out of interest did you fix the weak alternator and battery problem?

Cheers

Andy

Just as a note everything you have done is not a waste, you have achieved a lot with your car. Please be patient with it because you know when you have fixed it it will be great to drive again.
I always feel that if you can afford £500-£1000 pounds a year on new parts that you fit yourself then its well worth it to keep your A2 going.

A month ago i put new 90A alternator and same thing. I get 12.8v + volts after 10mins engine working. But i have this problem for years......

So you say new MAP new rear o2 and new HT coil pack ?

Hi, when you measure 12.8 volts, where are you putting your multi meter? At the battery terminals, or somewhere else? Mac.

Hello,

If money was not a factor in keeping a car running then I would do the following checks.

Compression test

Injector spray pattern and flow test

Vacuum system airtight

Exhaust leak test

Then buy a MAF sensor

Then buy a Lambda

Only put one new part on the car at a time and go for a test run.

All the best

Andy

Oh and I forgot to say double check the timing marks are perfectly aligned.

What kind of vag com do you have? Some cheap ones don't show all datas, might worth check it with another one too. But mostly I'd go back to the MAF sensor, which cleared the issue for a bit. Have you tried to reconnected it again? Even if it's not dirty anymore, unplug, wait a minute and plug it back like before and see if that changes something.

Hello people.
The car finaly record error code
Vag com says that the code is 16804 - Catalyst system bank 1 efficiency below threshold p0420 - 35 - 00--

So what is the best thing to do now?

Ps bank1 O2 sensor is 4years old.
