Just got my wheels back from Rimtec in MK. They're obviously well-regarded, I felt slightly out of place in a 17-year old A2 alongside several high-end SUV customers with wheels on this run of refurbs.
Overall I'm very happy with the results, three wheels are absolutely perfect, one has a small flaw on one spoke and a slight bloom in the paint on another, neither of which I'll be able to see as soon as there's any road dust on them. The centre-caps weren't
quite as well prepared before spraying, so while they're fine at any distance over arms' length, I can tell close-up where there were already pits & scratches in the plastic. This won't detract from anything when they're on the car, and since they weren't even charged for despite my reminding the guy doing the bill, I'm not looking at all unfavourably on them.
Perfect wheel, with resprayed and a non-resprayed centre cap, not a bad paint match at all (I had removed all the badgework before the refurb).
Slight flaw on top left spoke, slight bloom on top right. Apologies for poor picture but the phone camera struggles when as close-up as you need to be to see them.
Inside, and all four. The imperfect one is second left, you really can't see anything from this distance.
My conclusion is, if you are a perfectionist and want a guaranteed 100% immaculate job, I'd probably use Pristine Wheels. Otherwise, for 9+ out of a perfect 10 sort of job that's fine to all intents and purposes, you can't go wrong with Rimtec for £66 (inc. VAT) per wheel. Apparently they use a harder lacquer than Pristine Wheels do, so the job as a whole is also likely to be longer-lasting. I might be taking my other set of TT's there at some point, and I'd be equally happy giving them the Volvo's wheels to do.
