Anyone got a vintage classic car?

So it happens my A2 is the first or only aluminium marvel that I own. I have had my Elise for about 17 years and now Sprint and Hillclimb with it, but it used to be my daily driver. It a 1998 Mk1 Elise but has a 160Engine, Close Ratio box and other mods.

Also I have a bit of land my so this is an essential item. A 1951 Ferguson T20 tractor. Fabulous machine.

Started out with a Triumph Toledo as my first car, had a few more, 1984 Range Rover with VM 2.5 turbo D (kept blowing up!) Rover P6B which I converted to a 5-speed manual, currently have VW Transporter 3 disease (type 2, T3) so the project is a rebuilt and modified 1985 4wd syncro bus with a 3.2 Oettinger watercooled flat 6 motor which I have almost, almost finished rebuilding. It's a massive pain in the 'arris but I do look forward to (ab)using it again.
Oh look, there's the A2!

2 x 1977 Austin / Leyland Princess' (Again, excellent cars in "b" series / 1800cc format, these plus the Allegro completely changed my outlook of BL cars)

Mercedes 280 SLC & also 500SL (both lovely and my wife liked them, but not "me")View attachment 73749View attachment 73750

1978 Mercedes W123 280ce coupe (again lovely but not my thing) View attachment 73746

1980 MG Midget (Good fun but not practical for most of the year)

1964 Wolseley 16/60 (I could see why these cars were popular, it wasn't fast but it was spacious and comforable, for a 60's car it was also quite refined at 65-70mph.View attachment 73752

~5 x Ford Fiesta Mk2's- At one point they were my "go to" for a cheap reliable runaround when you could pick up a good one for a couple of hundred quid with MOT and know that it would happily do its job without fear of breakdowns

1969 Plymouth Satellite (bought in Arizona, had it shipped to San Francisco where it did a 12,000 mile tour of the USA after a left university in 2003!) View attachment 73751

This pretty much brings me up to date - I now have this, a 1969 BMW 2800cs, which I'm about to put up for sale:View attachment 73753

That BMW just oozes appeal for me.❤️ I would consider buying it, but probably out of my price range these days. ?

Ok here is a question ... if you could invest say 25k in a car that will appreciate what would you buy and why ?

My £25 K would probably buy me a Mercedes SL 1970-1978 ( perfebly in Black ) low millage & well kep/documented as it :

1) can be used regularly
2) Tax free due to age
3) Fun to drive in the summer ( when We have One )
4) A true classic & bullet proof engines
5) Appriciating in value year on year

Further more £25 k in the bank will make you 0.01 % interest ( basicly ZERO ) a classic mercedes would make you a lot more per year.

Thats my idea, anyway.
