Anyone know what this is??

Not sure why the OSS, however I do know these mounts are very heavy to counter act the nose heavy TDi engine, from which I've removed these from.

This is on my current breaker (1.6FSi)

Sarge is correct; there are two alu bars between the heavy cast iron mounting each side

Btw; does anyone knows that the wiresensor on top of the bar on the right on Sarges photos is for?

I’m doing a little research, and I’m wondering does anyone know where this is on a OSS car??

I've just had a GDW towbar fitted, and this was returned to me having been removed to fit said towbar. I was about to ask the same question. It's a solid steel bar, c30mm square, with great lumps of cast iron at each end, weighing c20kg. I can only think it's ballast, as mentioned above, but in a car striving for lightness by design, it's clear that you've lost that battle if you have to add something like this. I'm assuming that the full-up weight of the towbar compensates for the loss of this bar. So I'm hoping that the car is roughly the same weight as it was but with added functionality.

Yes, the GDW towbar has approx the same weight as the removed crash bar. The GDW towbar also has similar crashbars to absorb an light impact before damaging the car main frame
