Anyone need a VCDS scan ?

Hi all today I’ve managed to download VCDS lite :)

If anyone needs a VCDS scan just send me a PM

Depending where you are in Leicester I may need some fuel money to cover travel cost but other than that it’s free :)

Just trying to help members out as I know how annoying it is knowing something is wrong with you little A2 but you have to pay to get a scan done to find out the issues :(:)

Yes I believe it’s been registered? ?

All I need is a OBD lead to plug into the car and computer and I’ll be all set :)

Not only that but each version of the A2 will have some differences in the scan results. Add in the early cars with less can information and it is easy to make assumptions or work from memory and get things mixed up. You do need a lot of knowledge to correctly use VCDS especially on something you do not own. I have used VCDS and VagCom for many years and am still very wary about scanning another vehicle especially one I know nothing about.

Thanks for your guys advice I’ll play around with it for a while :)
Now that's truly confidence-inspiring, Louis. ?

In relation to the lukewarm response to your climate control button service, my advice was as follows...
As someone who has been offering freelance services for a long time, my advice would be not to advertise too soon. Whilst it may seem important to 'get the word out there' as soon as possible, it's more important to gain proper experience of the job by doing it multiple times, learning what you can, spotting variations and improving your techniques. Only once you've got it nailed should you let the broader public know what you can do.
To be offering a service before you've even got the computer or the necessary cable, let alone any experience of actually using the software, suggests you've not entirely taken this advice on board. Of course, there's no obligation to do so, but don't forget that we're all discerning adults who want the best for our prized cars. If you'd owned your A2 for fifteen years and paid a small fortune for it and its upkeep, would you entrust it to someone who'd openly admitted to having no first-hand expedience of doing the very job they're advertising?

Hi Tom yes I’m going to mess around with it for a couple of months First before I start plugging into others people’s pride and joy :);)

I should get the cable sometime next week has anyone got a link to a good cable ?

I won’t be offering any service until I’m really confident with it guys sure you can understand :)

Thanks :)

I guess you could call it a service Tom but it’s a free service just to help all our friendly members out :);)

We all love your enthusiasm Louis but i really would second Tom's advice here. It is more than messing around for a bit and if you don't register it and pay for the licence, you will not be able to do full scans.
As you know, I have one and I've paid to register it so I have the full functionality. I have messed around with it quite a bit on Mabel and Barney, but you will have noticed that I got Jeff to do the scan on Dennis' car at Kimbolton for me. That's because I know that Jeff is very experienced with it and knows exactly how to use it. You can change the settings on the car with it and i would hate to accidentaly mess up someone else's car because I didnt really know what i was doing.
