Anyway to separate armrest from doorpanels?

We've just bought a Silverblue metallic A2 1,4, but we don't really like the blue interior. So I bought a black spray for vinyl that I'm planning to use.

Now to the problem. I want to separate the armrest from the doorpanels so it would be easier to paint them. It that possible by any chance?

It's the blue that I want black.

Also, to remove the whole door trim in the back where we have manual windowopeners. Do I have to do something extra to get the door trim off?

I removed the door panel on Sunday. There didn't seem to be any simple way to remove the handles from the door card.

I think your interior looks good!

When you remove the door card, you'll see that the armrest is stuck on in a way that means you cannot re-mount it in either a strong or permanent way.

I agree that the blue looks good and you should leave it.

The rear door cards need to have the window winder removed first - take off the cover on the winder arm (it slides away from the knob) and you'll see the screw behind).

Cheers,

Mike

I agree with the feedback you've received. No matter how well you try I'm convinced that your DIY trim respray won't look as good as the original and would prove to be no where near as durable. If you really can't stand the blue interior, lash out on a full retrim (leather?).

Alternatively, and much more cost effective, if you can't get the car you'd love - be patient and learn to love the car you've got.

Thanks for all your comments. I'll think we'll keep the blue colour for now. Just in these 4 days since we bought the car, we'll got more used to the colour. Might even end up loving it? ;)

If you had wanted something run of the mill, dull, bland, anonymous then you would have got an A-Class!:p

Celebrate it, don't hide it!
