Attached or unattached?

Was trying to clean gently inside engine bay. Didn’t disturb anything but in the process spotted this. Hoping some kind 1.4 petrol owners will be able to tell me what this little rubber pipe behind the headlight is for and whether it is supposed to be as it is, or has come away from something further up? Thanks ?

I'm guessing the fabric taped bit above is a big chunk of wiring loom - at the moment struggling to orientate myself with the image. Is that the bonnet release cable (slightly out of focus) in front of the loom section? Do you have any other shots from a bit further out with a bit more context?

I think that's the nearside we're looking at, the loom is the headlight/steering controller loom and the pipe is the breather from the screen wash/headlamp wash bottle. Part 29 here. No need to be connected to anything, other than sat in the clip.

Sorry, yes. Just behind passenger headlight. Seems like it’s fine as it is.

Brilliant - almost 10 years and I’d never noticed it before. Always a bit disconcerting when things look like they’re maybe supposed to join up somewhere else.

Hi theclarks,
It is definitely the washer bottle breather , mine came out of the clip & promptly emptied the contents on the drive strangely shortly after the mot!
