Hi all. Just noticed from start up when engine cold i have 'that smell' coming through my heater vents. I think maybe my heater matrix is leaking. Are all A2 heater matrix the same? My car is an 03 plate and has climate.
Thanks Steve

What smell? The A2 suffers from damp and rubbish in the pollen filter and that normally gives a smell for a bit. You can run a commercial anti bac cleaner through the air system that does freshen things up.

You may just need to 'de-odourise' the climate system - https://www.a2oc.net/community/inde...ce-smell-when-using-heating.21492/post-164918

Never had a problem but I leave the aircon permanently on and change the pollen filter regularly using the charcoal type. I did use a Forte aircon spray once for good measure - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORTE-Ai...243293&hash=item41d29d3e4b:g:EbMAAOSwXXxZS6A-

Other suggestions I've read say that you can get similar results just by running the heater and fan on full belt with vents open and system on recirculation mode. Keep windows closed and get out of the car and leave it running for 15min (don't leave it unattended)
The heat should dry out all the heater ducts and kill the bacteria.
Could be worth doing this as stage 1 then follow up with the Forte spray procedure

Cheers Spike

Ok thx guys. I'll try a deodoriser things first. I had it done by halfords when they serviced aircon. I think they called it an air bomb? Aircon on full set car to recirc open cannister then shut doors.

By using the recirculation function the chemical does not get diluted with more fresh air making it work better. I would at least pull out the cabin filter first and clean out any debris in there and bang out the filter if not replacing it. Just cover the passenger foot well with plastic sheeting before removing the filter to catch the mess. I have also sprayed the pollen filter with Dettol 3in1 spray as that leaves a pleasant smell in the filter.
