Audi A2 in Australia !

I thought that the Australian A2,s were all base model 1.4 petrols. The leather may not be original in this one. I know of a Castle red in WA and the owner was a member here "Gazza" from Broome. The second was silver coloured and was for sale a few years ago at a similar high price.

Anybody looked into shipping prices to Australia yet?
There’s an opportunity here As 70 series Landcruisers and rarer early hilux make serious money here ...so put two a2s in a 40 ft container and bring back a couple of old toyotas 🥳..I’m also on the hilux forum and more than one person has shipped one back over ..

When you import a car into Australia the tax duties are huge and again when you come to sell on in the country. That would possibly eat into any potential profit and could explain why it's not been done.

Considering the weather in Australia, I’m surprised that red hasn’t faded or peeled.

I like @greywolfhound’s idea, I might advertise mine there on an auction site with a reserve of $100k AUD and shipping. They’ve never had an FSI so it would be 1 of 1 and only 1 of 5 in the whole of Australia. Whilst I love my pristine example dearly, I could buy a fair number of pristine examples in the UK for that price.

Clearly nobody would pay that money but I’d like to see what the bidding would get to just for the sake of curiosity. If it hit the reserve then it would be a nice problem to have.

Just looked at the dealers photos and noticed the odometer was just over 27,000 km = almost 17,000 miles. And its 19 years old = 890 miles pa!

No wonder the area behind the service flap is glistening like new. The dealers site is advertising it at £16,032. It's a 1.6 so it's an FSI. Who dare rings up to ask if the EM light is on ;)

I doubt the EML is on at that mileage so a little unfair. Usually occurs at 60-80k+ miles depending on the care routine and sometimes never for many an FSI.

I knew there were probably a sum total of 4 A2,s in Australia but it's the first time I've seen a red one.
Apparently there were 2 A2s in New Zealand - or there were a few years ago - but they were both in Auckland so never saw them as I lived in South Island then. Would have thought that getting parts would be difficult in Aus and NZ.
