Could this finally be the successor to the throne?

does look amazing & i guess with the 2040 timeline brought forward by quite a considerable amount there a chance new & old could be sitting side by side on the driveway!

The show car is more than 2m wide with the extended wheel arches - it'll be interesting to see what they eventually come up with that is bit more realistic for road use - judging by other forward-looking concept cars (ie. iRobot RSQ vs R8) wouldn't be surprised if the main roof arch and windscreen are maintained with a slightly more conservative bottom half.

I quite like that...if I start saving now I may be able to afford one in 2030. ? :D
Don’t VAG warrant batteries for circa 99k miles which they do on the Golf/Passat GTE? I’m assuming that’s due to degradation and reduced range towards the end of the battery’s usable life.

I bet our current A2’s will survive longer than these electric cars, especially the TDI’s and low mileage petrols.

Looks nice though.

I hope they sort the VW id3 parts out first as it’s not looking a good donor car. Id3 is available but loads of cancelled orders due to issues.
we have been here before with the promise of an electric a2 starting back in 2012 I think it was. It looked great but 2014 came along and they decided it was being scrapped. Shame as it would have been nice to keep the four rings instead of a bmw i3S

I suspect that the launch was premature because of the need for VW to reduce their fleet emissions. In other words, to compensate for selling too many SUVs.

Compare to the 2011 EV/Hybrid concept. I think the new one looks better (less plain looking). I like the angular side windows on the latest concept.

I was going to order the Audi s1 this year having tried one, it’s a pocket rocket .. whilst hanging onto both our audi a2 tdis … but I think I’ll hang on another 12 months and see what happens about the new A2 hopefully inspired by the sleek one in the pics above I love that ultra modern look.. The BMW I three I’ve looked at over the last few years but would love to stick to Audi. I think I’ll wait it out .. come on Audi ..🤗

Sadly I remain sceptical about a new A2 appearing - there's allegedly little or no profit in small cars for the big manufacturers now - though I see no reason why a small BEV couldn't be profitable given the MEB architecture that VW use...
I had 36 years as an consultant design engineer in the motor industry, and the growth of the risk-averse mindset in the global product planners has stifled the diversity and design energy of the increasingly expensive products on offer to us.
I see only increasingly bloated and cartoon-ish offerings from manufacturers at the moment, with customers seemingly only wanting more and more outlandish SUVs. It would take a brave manufacturer indeed to buck the trend and push for compact & efficient instead of the currently popular lardy and bloated - VAG have done it before of course, but Piech is long gone and I'm not sure that Oliver Blume and Gernot Dollner have the same adventurous spirit. Time will tell of course - and I do hope to be proved wrong :)
