Hi there all,

I am pleased to share my joy that I found a German Audi website where we can buy basically all parts for our A2s,
even those that are not available in the UK.

...well, they do not have front rubber mats indeed ;-((

So far had bought from them new ashtray, a cowing (a small piece of plastic to the right of a fog switch) that connects with
a lower pillar, those trims on the right and on the left side from the windscreen, end caps of those plastic panels that stretch
from the front wheels to the rear wheels along a bottom edge of a car, a leather hand brake handle... All these are not available
in the UK, had checked with 4 UK Audi dealers.

All parts are genuine Audi, delivered by DPD and/or UPS - in my case, that is - payment could be done with a card or PayPal.

The website is:

There is a standard registration procedure creating an account with an email and a password. One might not register yet in this case
it is impossible to see the prices, and, more importantly, one cannot see a part number when points a mouse arrow on a required
part in the picture.

The prices are obviously in Euros so they will be rising with our every step to that glorious abyss of Brexit. Not to mention any import
tariffs after it. Well, such is our fate - all ills are because of our wishes - to keep our A2s as long as possible ;-))

They can be extremely expensive; my example they were 3 times more expensive without 19% tax, than an Audi dealer with 19% included (!!)

ETKA is good for finding part numbers and exploded diagrams. I'm off to my Audi dealer today for the first time to collect an oil separator and the two vent hoses connecting to the air intake box These hoses have collapsed on my 1.4 petrol. They seem elusive as after market parts. I will get some genuine gearbox oil, so I can change that too. I might have a go at the O-rings on the dipstick housing on the block.

I haven't fitted these parts yet.
I ordered the parts by phone, quoting my registration. The parts guy was friendly and efficient, and they arrived within 2 days.
When I arrived at Motorline Audi, Maidstone there were strict distancing procedures etc.
The smart suited man attending to me, ( I had to sit at his desk in the main showroom ) couldn't trace my car on the system by the registration. It didn't come up on his computer. I had all the part numbers except the gearbox oil.
Do dealers have a conventional parts counter?
I managed to get 2 oil filters at a reasonable price, but nothing else except the separator and hoses ordered by phone.
I didn't have my VIN number handy.
The worrying thing is that when I've entered my VIN on to ETKA etc., it doesn't recognise it. It's a 2001 1.4 petrol AUA.
Are these problems any of you have experienced?
Putting the registration into Euro Car Parts or similar comes up with the car and model ok.
Any views would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Might your car originally have been ordered and purchased in UK spec from the continent and imported when new? So not known on the UK dealer system by registration (although I suspect VIN would have helped). Can't comment on EKTA as I've never tried it.

Hello,
As far as I know it was bought new by a lady from Essex. She owned and had it serviced by Audi until 2010.
It was registered in England on 5/3/2001.
I've looked at the service book.
The delivery date was 20/2/2001 to :-
AUDI
134 / 51454
Gebr. Kamps
58453 Witten
Does this confirm your theory?
The first service stamp showing the current reg Y452FHJ (Essex area) is not dated.
It's from the above dealer on Dortmunder Strasse.
It had 2 further lady owners before me.
The second owner put a personal reg on it which my cousin (3rd owner) retained.
I assume that its current reg is the one it was issued with in 2001. This is now non-transferable.
If I go to the dealer again, I'll give them the VIN and see what happens.
Bit odd that the parts guy had no trouble when I phoned them. I did give him the part numbers though which I found on ETKA.
I don't know whether the plot thickens or not!
Thanks.

There is indeed a VAG dealer at 101 Dortmunder Strasse, 58453 Witten in Germany. I guess that confirms that the first owner purchased it new in RHD (and presumably UK spec) in Germany and imported it herself. She might even have had to take it back there for the first service? There was a time when it was known to be significantly cheaper to go down this route than buying new in the UK. Don't know if that still applies now.

I suspect this car was bought new by serving British forces using the discount scheme in their last 6 months of service in Germany. It was brought into the UK on their return. They would have ordered a right hand drive vehicle UK spec. At this time it would also have been issued a UK registration number although the car may have been on German plates while still in Germany.

That's interesting. Might never know, unless I contact the original owner. She certainly used it over here; 109,000 miles in 9 years.
Cheers. ?
