Audi have upset me and forgot their entry level customers

ok audi have pushed me to far this time. my front exhaust was ratling when accelorating it would click. took it into audi and i was expecting to be expensive but wait for it, u may want to sit down. they quoted me 705.00 GBP to replace the front part of my exhaust! no one else will touch my car as they cant get parts and dont know enought about it took it loads of places. felt so angry over costs of repair to the A2 wrote to audi so i'll let u all know what happens. staff at audi were so nice tho and said they would sell it as repairing the a2 is so expensive and costs were increasing due to costs of parts. the repairs are not in line with the cars value. i love my a2 and dont want to part with it by i cant live with it and its costs. really gutted dont want to part with and feel forced too! grrrr audi! i've had other expensive repairs but this takes biscut asked other place how much it cost for A3 and it s only 175GBP to 300GBP A2 drives should not be exploted by audi! sorry if i caused offense over the entry level thing but thats what i see my self as with audi (they make u feel that way)

Once again an example of Audi wishing to dissown the little fellas?
Are they embarrassed by the perceived sales flop I wonder, if they had developed it as the other models in the range it would be a cracking car by now!! (not that it isn't to those who know i.e. you lot!!)

i think audi wont be happy untill every A2 is wiped from existence i really get that feeling, i think they are embrassed of the A2 it breaks their norm too much and that scares them. i also think they've gone a bit bonkers tho on repair pricing some A2 repairs out price the A3 what is with that. they guy at audi was completely agreing with me to my horor and i cant believe i was advised not to repair but to sell. the car its self is fine its just a little noiser but not much infact its not danergous and it is livable but thats not the point is it. audi grrr!!! i wont buy any new audi concept now lol A1 customers be warned they'll pull the plug on u next

As everyone (or most folks) on these forums know, the attitude you have recieved from your dealer is one that most of us have got at some point - me included.

You've done the right thing by writing to Audi UK - they sorted my problems out a treat and I am treated like a decent customer and human being now.

The bottom line is this - the A2 isn't an entry level car to the Audi range. The problem stems from the model designations and A2 will always be seen as a lesser car to an A3 which in turn will be seen as a poor mans A4 etc.

As has been discussed on these pages before, the A2 should never have been called the A2, maybe they should have stuck to AL2 - the concept designation.

In truth, the A2 is a more practical car than the A3 - it certainly has more load carrying capacity than it, until you get to sportback variants and even then, the squarer opening of the A2 is still more practical.

It also costs less to run, insure and tax than any other Audi, but comes with most of the design options of the rest of the range and certainly better build quality than most, being put together by the same craftsmen who worked on the A8.

The A2 certainly wasn't a cheap option either - for what I paid for my example (from new) I could have had a very nice A3 diesel SE or S-line, or even an entry level A4 or TT!

So, see what Audi UK say but don't be put off by the attitude of the dealer - some are worse than others in this respect. At the end of the day, you are the customer and the customer is always right (even when they are wrong!). It might not change the cost of your manifold repairs, but then a lot of the engine components are shared with the VW Polo, so could be quite cheap really.

Shop around, you'll get there in the end, but please leave selling the A2 as a last resort.

Cheers,

Mike

Exactly why I'm saving up for a bit them putting a whole new suspension kit on it and a custom exhaust with a pipe on each side. :D

It sounds like they’re planning to replace the catalytic converter. This is integral with the front section of the exhaust, and rattles when it fails.

As you've discovered, their is no alternative to the Audi part; around £500 IIRC You should be able to get it fitted cheaper, but it does involve cutting the down pipe and fitting a joint.

BTW I personally found your post difficult to read without caps or punctuation.

There is another way!

You don;t have to play the dealer game!

Some are better - eg: Teeside Audi offer 30% off labour and 10% off parts to A2 owners and cars over 3 years old.

John Fox Audi give discount to A2 owners.

Go independant - have a holiday in Holland or Germany and get an Audi dealer there to service xar cheaper than UK.

You can get the parts fro Euro Car parts, VAGCOM, and other independants.

www.ebay.de is a God send - can get a new CAT for 500 Euros not GBPs from reputable dealers.

Just bought two new front wheel bearings including hubs for 125 GBP incl insured shipping.

Don't give up!
