Rationalised 2005 Model Year A2 range features Special Edition petrol and TDI models.

New A2 Special Edition models powered by 1.4 (75PS) and 1.4 TDI (75PS) engines now available to order priced at £12,715 OTR and £13,695 OTR respectively for first deliveries in Jan 2005.

Based on Standard spec with the addition of electronic climate control and Concert radio with single CD player, increasing price advantage over outgoing equivalents to approx £2,000 ([?]) in each case. With immediate effect they replace all other existing A2 Standard, SE and Sport models. [16]

Special Edition models add electronic climate control and CD player to the A2 Standard equipment list, which includes 15-inch alloy wheels, remote control central locking, electric front windows and mirrors and a full compliment of safety and security features.

All optional extras currently offered for outgoing Standard models will be available to A2 Special Edition customers.

Intresting that they are only the base spec 75's, must be existing unsold stock retrofitted with the extras to temp purchasers.

Think I will pass at this chance, if they speced up an SE or a Sport for a few grand less than I think things would be different....

And I agree that next year (2005) is looking like the final full year for A2.....

Lee and Sheridan,
TDI SE, Build 11/01, Dolphin Grey
50% Brighter Bulbs : Audi 6 CD Changer : Rear drinks holder : Floppy Wiper : Centre Tray : Elasticated Belt System : Chrome Numberplate Surround : A3 Transmission Nets : Heated Mirrors

So no 1.6 FSi or TDi 90PS

You would have thought they would have kept the 90pS model

Sad to see it go
Doubt we will not see another small car built to such a high standard,
style and quality for a while (if ever)

If Audi had been a little less greedy on price in the UK it might have taken off far better

I agree with antonymark31 about the high standard, style and quality. But whats always confused me why the car hasn't sold well, some people say its overpriced. So why does the (inferior) A class Mercedes sell proportionately far more in a similar price bracket.I think the car was to radical and a head of its time when launched. Maybe the is a subject for a new topic.

I agree with batchers. The look of the car still leads to discussions. Some people think it looks like a squashed TT. And some stop me at a parking lot to admire the look of the car. It seems that there is no middle road. You cannot simply drive an A2, you love it or you hate it.
The A-class is more common.

Each morning when I approach the A2 after nearly three years I am still thrilles by the design of the car. No other vehicle has ever done that.
