Audi specialist or technician wanted for ECU issue.

There are four different ECUs for 1.4s. Which one depends on AUA/BBY and 0GS/0GG.

Been offered help by SARGE with the incurring costs ofcourse.
As I'm new around here , can't just transfer money without knowing the person.
So if anyone around here can vouch for SARGE , I'm willing to give him my money

At this point I need someone with skills to diagnose, repair and clone if necessary , my ECU.
According to my "vag specialist", the ECU is in short-circuit because of a coil pack touching the top engine metal !?!
Therefore not readable !?!
It might be all a load of crap as don't trust his diagnose ,and just wanted to make another quick 800£ for a new one ...
How can you diagnose and find the problem if the ECU is unreadable in first place !?!

If I manage to fix this my way , it would be such a orgasmic pleasure to go in my mechanic yard , plug in the ECU and take off right under his nose !!!
Now bill raised to 800£ because I suggest him to try another ECU that I bought, hoping that he will recode, but he didn't because HE CANT !?!? Still charged me because he tried ...

Which also means he cant recode a new one either incidentally!

I've not dealt with @Sarge myself, but I know that he has been a member here for many years, and I'd trust him with my own car without hesitation. Hopefully others with direct experience will back this comment up before too long.

Sarge has been helping members of this forum since long before I joined over four years ago. At that time, lots of people were going to him to have work carried out on their cars. I understand that Sarge is now not in the best of health and therefore has stopped working on other people's cars but still offering a great deal of assistance using both his extensive experience and stock of spare parts. I would have no hesitation in taking up his offer if I was in your shoes.

No need to recode if the part number is correct. You just need VCDS to adapt it. You may also need the SKU/PIN.

Hi Rab - I'm assuming even if the OP got the right part number ECU second hand the mechanic wouldnt be able to pair it either - thats how I read it.

If that's the case, he'll have the same problem with a new ECU! They still have to be adapted.

Sarge is a top bloke, no worries purchasing off him at all...and VERY knowledgeable too

It seems to me you accepted the estimate of £700 for the initial work
No, surely he accepted a quotation to fix the car, not an initial sum of £700 followed by an additional sum of £800. The car should be fixed for the original quoted sum or returned to the OP. There's no legal obligation to pay the £1,500.

He hasn't gave me other choice really, he phoned and told me the throttle body is at fault and if I agree to replace it. Which i accepted, then after couple days phoned me back saying there's more ... And that i need new ECU. When suggested other ways around it , he wasn't very keen into it ...
I'm amazed by the good reviews he has on Google and by the amount of people recommend it to me on Facebook when i asked about an Audi specialist ...
Disappointing really ...

So in other words, he's telling you that the throttle body and ECU failed at the same time? All you need is a replacement ECU (maybe) but he has to give you a choice whether he replaces it or not. If not, contact your Local Trading Standards office.

This is his bill.
Which I'm a bit picky on it also.
When I showed my slight discontent he said he went above and beyond for this car ... I'm I not ,at the end paying for that "above and beyond" !?
I asked for a detailed bill, which in my opinion has to have : How many hours you worked on it. How much was the part you replaced , etc ...
