Over 200 working hours went into building up this audio system..

WHOA! Is all I can say, that looks very impressive! Got any specs on the set up? Wouldn't mind seeing what those two bad boys are kicking out in your boot! :D

They are rated at 900wrms each and are being feed [if you allow for gain settings and equalisation] a 0.5ohm load from a Genesis Monobloc amp rated at 825wrms at 4ohms, at full tilt we could be looking at around 3.5Kw,, in reality, the gains are about 55% and the equalisation is not under boost, actually from the headunit the sub bass output is set at minus 3 most of the time..

For a full and detailed breakdown the look at this http://www.x-bb.org/~efmax/my%20kit.htm

Some items have changed since then,,!

So where do you put the power station to run that lot then?

Cant wait to see you and your set up "centre stage"
at Audi Driver International at Castle Combe in October ..

I Would have settled for the Head Phones but the
Cars even better LOL!!!!

Believe it or not, I have a 2nd very special battery next to the main battery and this is on a split charge system, so when the car is switched off, everything runs from the 2nd battery.

The spin off to this is that when you switch the engine on, you ALWAYS have 12v to start the car as the two batteries are switched to run in parallel at this point.

They both charge as normal and in weather like this, the 2nd battery often reads about 12.3v when switched off.

Also hidden is a special power supply for the headunit. This is an isolated and regulated 12v supply that even when the engine is off, delivers at least 12.5v to the headunit. It is also isolated from the car so there are no ground loops or interference from the car's electrics.

Overall the sound quality is just what I have always wanted and from the front seats the sound is even on both sides, that is to say that the stereo reproduction is very well balanced and it is hard to tell where the speakers actually are.. have a listen some time and se what you think..

But where do you put the shopping?

Very nice.
umm, you are joking right,, even when my last girlfriend was around,, I did all the shopping and the stereo stayed put.. I don't do airports or kiddie runs,, in fact there have been more ASDA bags on the back seat than bums..

one question

How many pounds (better in kilogramms) are the front doors now heavier, than thay had been in the original?

As You can see in the link, I added 11 britisch pounds or 5,5 Kilogramms on each front door.

Next time I will remove some weight from the drivers door. :) because it allready came down 1 mm.

There is a subwoofer beside the battery now (not shown in thread ) with a socond typical black Bose-amplifier, which uses the space, the original Bosesubwoofer uses plus the 3 inches in front of it.

So the sound-system runs on 12 Volts (at the speaker-cables, because this is the way, bose works. Thay produce more Watts in lower the impedance of the speakers (2 Ohms and only 0,5 Ohms on the 23cm woofers).

I am not sure how much extra weight there is on each door but I used approx 10 boxes of 3.5Kg/box for the whole car and the total additional weight due to the audio equipment and sound deadening is 110Kg,,, which is about 25Kg more than me..
