My A2's airbag light came on remains on. Can anyone please help?
My local garage has advised me that they don't deal with electrical issues and were unable to recommend anyone.
Can you please recommend someone in East London or Essex who can help me with this problem?
Thank you

Hi Carla,
Is there any history to this fault ?
The reason I ask is that it’s fairly common for the plug under the front seats to get dislodged when the interior is being vacuumed or washed & may be a simple fix.
Hope that helps you
Keith.

Hi Keith
Thank you for your reply. It just came on one day. It might be a simple fix, but I don’t know where to look. I will search youtube, maybe it can show me how to fix it, if that is the problem.

Hi Carla,
Not the best location for you, I know, but if all else fails, you'll find Gary at B&F Autos in West Hounslow very helpful. Very expert on all matters A2.
Doesn't charge stupid money either.

Not connected, just a happy customer.

If possible, a VCDS scan should point you in the right direction.

Has anyone tried resetting the airbag light with VCDS?
If not, I'm over in Ilford late afternoon tomorrow so could could nip to Romford (that's if your profile is correct) and take a look at it early evening for you as I'll have my laptop with VCDS with me.

As Keith says, this is probably just a dislodged connection while the ignition was on. Looking under the front seats, there are yellow & purple connectors that rise out of the carpet and plug into the seat. Even if the connection is reset though, the light will stay on until turned off with a diagnostic tool connected the OBD socket under the driver's side of the dashboard. Most garages will have something with enough functionality to do this. You need to get the light turned off, and then see if it stays off when the ignition is turned on again and the car is driven around.

You should take up @Bargepower's very kind offer, with VCDS he'll also be able to read and clear diagnostic messages from the car's other systems for you.

I regularly clear the air bag fault using VCDS lite because my wife who is a lot shorter legged than me means that the drivers seat is constantly being moved forward and back, its definitely the plug and socket under the seat that disconnects and reconnects itself.
I must get around to securing it

No disrespect to anyone posting here. If Ian @Bargepower has kindly offered to do a VCDS scan I certainly would take him up on the very generous offer. Ian knows what he is doing so is more than capable to SCAN THEN REPAIR. This is far better than trying to get someone who does not have confidence or experience that could cause death if something went wrong. Perhaps once the car has been scanned and it is only a loose connection, then the OP could try refitting the connector if the fault reoccurs. But if the fault is more serious, that is where Ian will have the experience to advise what steps to be taken. By all means offer help but in this case I do firmly believe it needs to be that hands on type.
Guys remember " safety is no accident"....

Suppose it is now up to the OP if she gets in touch with Ian.

Remember, the air bag is explosive, so, another vote for Ian. I'd not fiddle with one, for sure.

So, car scanned and airbag error was the passenger side airbag igniter, intermittent connection.
Error cleared, and it’s not come back.
Looks like it was an historic error for the seat airbag plug, however, we’ve made arrangements that if it comes back on I’ll take tools and remove the seat and check out the connection and wiring.
It didn’t come back on on the return trip to the station, so fingers crossed ??
