Avus alloys on A2

Thanks. I was hoping that they did a 16" A2 se wheel that was the same for a the A3 just a wider J. Call me weird but i quite like the A2 16"se wheels just wish they were 61/2 J or 7J. That way i could put 205 rubber on safely.

The mk1 A3 did have wheels like the A2 6 spoke "SE" wheels, but wider:

A2: 8Z0601025HZ17 6Jx16 ET35
A3: 8L0601025AEZ17 7Jx16 ET44

If you want 16" wheels that look like the A2 "SE" but are 7J wide just get an A3 set.

Their prices are very expensive but this site is usefull for looking up wheels and specifications.

Hi Andrew i've located some A3L 16 7J but before i pull the trigger can you confirm they'll fit fine with no rubbing and i'll have no issues with 205 / 45 tyres? Cheers Mark.

Hi,

I can't comment on these wheels from personal experience, but I do have 17" sport wheels with 205/45 tires on my car with no problems on standard suspension.

The tire / wheel thread:

https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/the-definitive-tyre-wheel-size-thread.12120/

lists 205/45 as OK for 16" wheels.

Andrew

Hi Mark...I had these fitted and they do rub on the front inner arches on full lock. Good road holding, look nice and wide but very heavy in weight and feel through the steering wheel. I can,t recommend them to you sorry.

Do you think that S3 16"7J "Avus" alloys, with 195/45 tyres — which is the maximum spec listed in my vehicle registration document — could also rub on the front inner arch?

Having never tried this combo I couldn't give you an answer sorry. Perhaps another member can assist....

Resurrecting this post as I was pondering to switch from my 16" SE alloys to the A3 16" alloys (8L0601025AEZ17 ). @Special edition I read from your previous posts on this subjects that you found them quite heavy. Considering the standard SE 16" alloys are relatively lightweight, I thought that the A3 J7 might be not too much heavier as they share similar design and material. In your experience are they really that heavy? I am really tempted to have wider wheels, filling the arches nicely, but I equally scared to add weight to my A2. Thank you in advance.

Hi Andy...I am not sure of the exact weight but they were on the heavy side. They only rubbed the front inner wheel arch lining on total full lock. Aside from this they looked good and "planted".

Thanks. What tyres did you use on them if I might ask?

This is something I think about too, I like light and not too wide wheels/tyres. I really like pepperpots for weight and find no need to exceed 195 tyre width.
Have you considered spacers? Which wheel and tyre options do you want? The 7J version appears to be 10Kg bare, 6J is (not yet found - 8Z0601025). For comparison, pepperpots are under 6Kg.
