Azure Blue A2 TDI

Hi Everyone.

I've not been a member for long but the forum has proved an invaluable resource when looking to buy, so thank you all.

And then, about a week ago we bought our very first A2, so I thought it was about time to post a little introduction. The car's a 2002 TDI SE in Azure Blue (LZ5H), with about 125k miles on it. It came with some history and a folder full of receipts and invoices for mechanical work done, including belts and waterpump just before we bought it, but is cosmetically scruffy.

Two issues that have made themselves known already: a wobbly wiper arm, and a fuel flap release that doesn't. Well the latter actually sometimes does, just rarely.

So there we have it. Hello and thank you again!
Tom.

Hello n welcome from a fellow Azure Blue Tdi, which will be my project car, when I get started on it!
They are addictive. I bought my first 18 months ago and currently have 4, hopefully soon to be 3!

Just to let you know get your wobbly wiper arm sorted straight away as it will scratch the window-screen

I bet your rivets have gone bad (very common problem)

@depronman he refurbs then to high quality

Hope to see more posts from you soon and maybe at upcoming socials :)

Also @Jellybean is right these cars are addictive

I have 2 already and I plan on buying my 3rd next week and I’m only 16 years old ?

Thanks :)

Hi and welcome along to the best car forum on the net by far !!!
I have zoomed in on you photo and can make the wiper arm out to be an early type.
As Louis as already pointed out I refurbish both types of wiper arm, they both suffer the some problem which is wear to the pivot pins (often called rivets) and associated bushes. This is a poor choice of materials on Audi's part, the pivot pins are made from mild steel which rusts when water gets into the joint thus wearing the bushes
I ream the bushes back to round then make custom size stainless steel pins, rivet it all back together and finally pain it satin black
The cost is £30 on an exchange basis plus £7 postage

Drop me a PM if you are interested, I have one old style and two of the latter style aero wiper arm available at the moment

You might want to check out my thread 'Depronman Services' as there are likely a few other pits and pieces that I make that you will need over the coming weeks. Always happy to combine parts into a single delivery to save postage

:) Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

@depronman PM incoming. But I don't seem to have permission to view your linked thread.
Hi Tom,

Welcome.

I can't access Paul's thread either! Something is wrong at the system level.

Is it because of the (banned) remap element?

Andy

Edit. Taken the alert to Ben out so as not to waste his time.

This isn't a Ben thing, the admin team just completed an exercise to archive all the open sales threads with a year or more since the last response. After a slight edit I moved Paul's thread back into the Parts section. It should now be visible to any member who has paid the upgrade to access the Market - please post up again if it isn't.

@TomA2TomAh2, welcome aboard from me too :) If you haven't already done so, to get access to the Market, click on your name on the menu bar, then Account Upgrades. The one-time Market access fee is £2, payable by PayPal.

Looks to be the same colour as mine, so I'm guessing I now know I have Azure blue. Same wheels as well, but mine need a refurb, ideally.
