Bad news - I think that I need a new DMF

Did you have the use of a lift or did you lift on axle stands?
Axle stands and an engine hoist to control movement of engine and gearbox when the gearbox mount and dog bone underneath where detached.

I understand you need a place and space to do maintenance and repairs on yer car.
If a repair is X amount at a dealer or shop, I reckon its possible to do it yourself including all necessary tooling and parts for less........ Ofcourse one needs to be confident enough and a (private) driveway/parking.
The hours you spend are not working hours..... It's just fun and gathering knowledge! ?

Took me a good few days to do it due to lack of tools to be honest, definitely doable on the drive with axle stands and a jack, lower it down under car and can remove it fairly easily as it is not that large a gearbox, angles can be a bit awkward but certainly nothing too bad.

Got it off without an engine jack but to put it back on I had to rent one for about whole of 15min as I could not get the angle on it right to mate after hours of wiggling and fiddling.

Yes, to take it off is fairly simple gravity is helping a lot ?.
To put it on can be a pita, so for me time to invest in an engine hoist.......

It's got 2 spindles, one to support the engine and the second one to support and/or lift up the gearbox to manoeuvre in desired position.

Can be bought for €50 here in Holland and don't want want to swap boxes without it anymore......... (couldn't find the second spindle last Saturday, so had to wrestle a box again (oh, eh no; @DuncanA2 had to, sorry mate ?)).
