Basic Service/Tune up

My car has just done it's first 12K.
Normally on previous cars I have had the engine tuned up, new plugs, filters etc.

Okay so the TDI has no plugs in the convential sense but if I buy all of the bits myself and get a tried and tested mechanic to give it a ""crypton type electronic tune-up"" what bits do I need to buy.

I thought that some decent oil and new filter [any recommendations]new air filter etc,, what else.

Not required. Just paste it a bit harder. The tdi REVELS in hard use I find. The consumption dreases whenever it has done a long hard run.
If you want to change the oil make sure it is the VW/Audi stuff and an approved filter or you can wave your warranty good bye.
I guess your service thingy is telling you that service is at at least 18k probably 24!
