Can anyone out there tell me why I can't see my reply(s) to 'remo' in my messages sent?

Steve (remo) wants my OEM original and 'good' A2 battery and it's here waiting; so if someone can get him to PM me with his telephone contact number then I can arrange for him to collect: thanks in advance...

Sure. You have to change the settings in your profile for sent private messages to be saved. I think this is to preserve your storage allowance. If you want sent messages saved it's a tick box on your settings.

I bought one of these from Tayna a couple of months ago. Fast delivery and a perfect fit. :)

If anyones in the market for a new battery great deal on ebay at the moment for the Varta F18, use the code PRIZE20 to get it for £78.36 including postage (its from Tayna Batteries).

Similar offer for the F19 (correct larger size for the A2):

Using this in my tdi a few years

And maybe there is part number for the clamp screws? Mine turns around when I try to tighten them.

This morning did a small test with outside temp -1 °C. Did 2 of glow plugs heats. Battery is not charged with a charger and driving shorts distances. What do you think about this result?

@Vic result as expected, short distance driving doesn't replace the energy removed by starting and driving with increased energy usage due to lights and heating /demisting. I need to perform the same test as Bo gets very close to not starting just now(though has a new battery so I must have a starter or lead issue).
I've been using a Ctek 5 with accessory plug adapter to boost our batteries of late, batteries dislike winter.

Hi A2Z thanks for your help will order one as battery only last 5 days before it will not start car

Before you do that, have you thought of buying a CTEK or similar with the rejuvenation function?
Mine is the 5 amp version and has been known to bring sulphated batteries back from the brink. Great piece of kit and worth having in the long-term even if this doesn’t solve your immediate issue.

Agree with the previous post about a decent charger while another tactic is to buy and use a solar charger to sit on the dash if you are leaving the car unused for extended periods, I can vouch it really does help. Bigger the better but do not expect the solar charger to actually charge the battery, in electrical terms they are quite puny, I consider it more a case of counteracting/reducing the small normal drain that occurs when parked. I know if I parked my A2 for ten days without a solar charger I would expect it to start yet reluctantly but with my solar charger it will immediately explode into life.

I got a Platin type 110 off eBay £55 incl. delivery. To replace the original 18yo Varta and as it turned out - unnecessarily. Bad earth was the problem in my case. Now with the benefit of hindsight, I think this is how to check - when starting the car, watch the dashboard alternator symbol (picture of battery). If it dims during cranking but other dashboard lights stay bright, then it's not the battery. Probably the earth point behind n/s head lamp. If all the lights dim during cranking, then it could be the battery. But check also battery connections are good.
Anyway the Platin battery seems OK. Whether it will last as long as the Varta, maybe. It doesn't have to work very hard in my 1.4 petrol.
