Bespoke Audi A2 Armrest Bracket and Trim (A6 C5) Group Order

Arm Rest Bracket BATCH TWO
===================
As batch one draws to a conclusion, the last few will be leaving early next week after a new tin of plasti dip arrives (Friday according to Mr Amazon) so fingers X

There are still a number of people on the reserve list that will clearly be disapointed, as such a 'batch two' may be a realistic possability in the near future.
I'm also advising that the price of the bracket for batch 2 will be £35 welded & painted including the fastners, a noticeable increase but I seriously underestimated the work and time involved in the bracket manufacture - my bad and I took it on the chin for batch one, but cannot do so for any further batches.
The minium order for the metal cutting is 27 sets worth. I don't expect all 27 sets to be sold any time soon and I don't mind holding some of the cut metalwork in stock, but I would need at least 10 brackets to be confirmed and paid for before I order the second set of metalwork.
There are currently in the region of 11 brackets on the reserve list that will not be satisfied from the batch one allocation, so if all members who expressed an interest are indeed still interested then I have the basis for being able to order the batch two set of metalwork.

The plastics for batch two will be the same price and offering as batch one i.e. £35 for a set of plastics Ex 3D printer or £55 for the plastics fully finished in plasti dip matt black (AKA Soul black)
Delivery will also be the same at £7 for either the 'bracket' or 'bracket and plastics' signed for insured delivery service

I am about to start a fairly major DIY project and as such will not be able to allocate much if any time to the arm rest project over the next month to six weeks, but if members are happy to pay for the brackets up front I will get the order in to cut-tec and will then be in a position to weld the odd one up as and when I get time.
The reseve list as it stands at the moment is -

*** @jaffa_jim you may well get the last one from batch 1, but there will only be the one

Can you please reply to this thread if you are one of the reserve list members and advise if you are still interested or not interested, also anyone else not on the reserve list who wold like to be in batch two then also come forward on this thread

I expect a flurry of photos over the next few weeks as members get thier brackets and if ordered thier plastics in either ex printer or fully finished forms and get the arm rest fitted to A2's, this is likely to peek further interest, so at the moments batch two is very much and watch and wait to see what the interest is

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul Yes please count me in for 2 brackets and 2 unfinished sets of plastics. Many thanks nod

Just received a parcel containing my armrest bracket and plastics, on which I paid for the finishing. Have to say, cracking job on that score, thank you Paul ? I wouldn't have got anywhere near that quality, very glad I had you do it. Any dust you can see in the photos is entirely my own work :)

Obviously I haven't taken the end off the armrest's metal bracket yet, but you can see how good the match is to the Soul plastics. I'm thinking this is going to look very OEM once it's in place in the Storm. I'll take further shots at that point.

If you could find a knackered CS seat, the armrest covered in yellow/black material could look awesome?

Great news really pleased that you like the finished product. Wait until you get it fitted, it just feels like it was always meant to be their

Mine has a black leather interior so the armrest is a perfect match as it is :)

Should I decide I want it in the Crystal one instead that I use more often, which is combination Twist/Soul, I'll find another lid in Twist. Or repaint it, as I'm on the list for cans of Volico in both colours. But the plastics can stay black as the central console is black.

Mine turned up today too and I haven’t pulled it all out of the box due to the house move but I had the same thought - a very high quality product and a good match for the rest of the car’s interior plastics.

Now I have a nice pile of upgrades for Audrey to start planning during my spare time - which I don’t have!! One plan to get around that is I’m going to have sneak downstairs in the middle of the night when my kids have woken me and unlike them, I can’t get back to sleep!

Mine also arrived today, thanks Paul? I’ve not opened yet but I’m sure it will be perfect.
That said it’s likely to be a while before I manage to fit as my armrest purchase from eBay has gone walkies

Installed the bracket. I am sure I would be quicker second time around! Lost a couple of nuts down into the nether regions (only hope they don’t rattle around).

Very solid, mounted the arm rest and am very pleased with the position (not the modified version).
Now I have to Plasti-cote the trim (@deproman supplied an early print prepped but not finished) will spent a little time to get the best finish I can.
Very pleased. Thanks to all involvedin this project

And now I know what soul black will look like with platinum half leather / alcantara sports - thanks!

I may dye the top platinum to match if I can.

Morning all,

I did explain before that a second run was on hold. This was due to the ever increasing prices in this venture.

Whilst what’s been produced is great, the assembled bracket almost doubles in price and I cannot justify a £5-6 bracket being assembled and painted at £35.

I am looking for alternatives which might even involve me borrowing my friends welder, it’s 3 phase so can only use it down his parents farm. But happy to do so to keep to keep costs down.

My time would be free as that’s just the way I like to contribute to the Club and it’s Members. I would charge a small fee for painting but wouldn’t know how much until I painted a few brackets up to understand how far just 1 can will go.

All that said though, it does seem that most people are quite happy to continue to be added to The second run list knowing the future prices.

Please let me know your thoughts. If there is no desire to save some £s then we may as well continue with Paul providing brackets at £35 (welded and painted).

Kind regards,

Tom

I am happy either way but please bear in mind there is unlikely to be sales of the MOQ of 27 in the short to medium term and as such if you choose to weld the brackets and paint them the risk of not selling them all, is entirely with yourself
This is one of the reasons for the increase in cost of the finished bracket.

Cheers. Paul

Morning Paul,

Totally understood and I’d rather not have spare brackets taking up room here but would also like to try to make this as cheap as possible without detriment to the finished bracket. I may even approach other members on here with a welder if someone is willing to offer their time to the A2 Cause for a minimum charge, fully appreciate that welding materials and electricity costs must be considered.

As the A2 hasn’t had this style of option for some 20 years then waiting until interest of all 27 brackets before commuting to purchase shouldn’t be out of the question and I’m sure interested members would understand. Just like the footrest project, nothing was purchased until we had interest registered at the minimum order quantity. I’m hoping this same principles can be followed.

Do the bracket files need a slight amendment for improved assembly to save grinding. Is this something you’ll be doing for a second run or will it be just persevere with what we have already supplied Cut-Tec with.

Kind regards,

Tom
